The bumpers can be pushed in. I did it on my old GT4, and my sister's car had that done earlier this year (no photos had been taken of it since then, so you'll see it when the new ones are taken this weekend). I didn't like it on her car at first, but it has grown on me--the GT4 however needed it desperately (so many seem to have a gap between the body and the bumper, and that is ridiculous looking).

Excellent Detective Work, Bert! My Euro 308 QV was first purchased in the Netherlands, by a very famous Dutchman (John "Hans" Hugenholtz). He has raced the 24 Hours of Le Mans many times (2004 for Ferrari), and is currently a partner of Spyker Cars. His father designed most of the world's F1 Grand Prix racing circuits. I am very proud of this Euro car's history by being in his hands, and first sold in the Netherlands. Therefore, I wanted a Dutch license plate. Not knowing anything about their plates, I looked at a picture of the F40 you described, and had fake plates made here in the U.S.A. A Dutch F-Chat member (Peter, a.k.a. BigoDino) offered to research my car's date of manufacture, sale, and come up with corrected plates which would have been issued at the time my car was sold. Peter did all of this research on his own time, found a place that had the original plate-making machinery from the 80's, and that is where my new plates (for show purposes only) were made. Peter charged me exactly what the plates cost, and nothing else. He could have asked for quite a markup, but as he put it, "That's what F-Chat is for - to help others." I also contacted Ferrari Club of The Netherlands (which my car's original owner's father founded), and they sent me Dutch FCA window stickers from the 80's for my car. In addition to H. Hugenholtz owning my car, it was also owned by Gold's Gym owner, Jeremy Lowell who had it licensed with "GOLDS" plates. My car has a little history.

We are experiencing snow and ice (I live 14 air miles north of the White House) these days, and nothing much "car-wise" (ie: racing, shows, meets, C&C) goes on around here until Winter is gone. Around May, the Car Shows will start up for 2009, and I'll be able to get photos of my car with the new plates. For now, you are one of the few who knew about the F-40 plates. Again, great detective work.

Since I was fooling around with the camera when I changed the plates from the U.S.A.-made plates to the Dutch-made plates for my Euro 308 QV, I thought I'd post pictures of the change-over...

You'll notice my Euro (s/n 48881) still has the original bumpers as pictured on pg. 2 of this thread.

    Cheers,

American Bumpers - Long ............... Euro Bumpers - Short.
Aaron, also notice the differences in configuration and color of the lights on the bumpers, as well as the deep chin spoiler, and 3-piece Speedline wheels on the rarer Euro version. If you go back to some of the other Euro version pictures, you'll notice more differences, like the Euro's racing mirrors with Ferrari logo, driving lights, prancing horse in the grille, tail light color combinations, lights in rear bumpers, and more. Thanks, guys, for the edjukayshun. I knew the battering rams were US. I suppose, then , one could expect some euros in US to have them (federalization), and some to not (They slipped through the authorities???). Right?

And that, as one member posted above, one CAN recede them, to make them "shorter"?
