Hi guys... Just a thought... What do you do when your crackle finished parts have had it ? I understand the proper paint is expensive except the aerosol stuff which isn't up to the job where there is heat involved and that you can't get the red in aerosol form anyway. Thoughts ? Cheers.
I just paint it again with wrinkle finish black. You are right though, the aerosol black paint is not durable enough, you can bake it and it is stronger, but still not durable enough. Eastwood wrinkle paint is what I use.
had 2 valve covers media blasted, then crinkle powder coated. $100, which is about 25 pounds sterling at the current rates it seems...
Jeff I've found the (VHT?)Aerosol stuff very good on both 355 and 348 covers there's a pic at http://www.collinsclan.co.uk/Pages/Cars/P4/Engine/source/6.html it's cheap too although you have to leave it a few days in warm temps to cure properly I've got a spare can (Red) if you want to try it
