Indeed. But what are the odds of them showing up here once a month? That picture looked like yet another American Iron from the sixties/seventies. That's not Supercar territory, but yet another Hooters cup show.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM WINGS! Will there be wings Ron? Are you going to wear your orange shorts to match your car?
Andreas you're being picky! Be grateful we're getting a kick ass monthly car show! That said, I agree with you. So... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not really. There is plenty of that on the calendar, just check out Kerry's website: http://www.doublekproductions.com/ Nothing wrong with American muscle cars, but we have those shows EVERY SINGLE WEEK in the summer. What's the point of adding more to that? And: A Supercar is in my book a title only applicable to very few cars. Enzo is one. Saleem S7 is another. McLaren F1 and Vector come to mind as well. But no ordinary American muscle car from the sixties/seventies need apply. Seriously. Or I'll show up with my Ferrari pretending it is a supercar (which it is not).
The website should be live later today. It was originally going to be called Chicago Cars and Coffee until my lawyer got involved, hence the name change to Supercar Saturday. It will be the first Saturday of every month during summer in The Glen in Glenview. An informal get together for all car enthusiasts.
Oh, man I remember those. As I remember though, the turnout wasn't great. (Except for you guys. Pic below ) As for the name, there are 3 Cars and Coffee. Arizona, California, and St. Louis. (I think) So why not Chicago Good point, I'm just excited it's less than 2 minutes from my house Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are plenty of Muscle cars that can go 200mph, thats not a good definition of a super car at all.
Any regular gathering of car folks in Chicago would be fun. As far as I am concerned, the more diversity the better.
As others have said Andreas, it's about the spirit of automotive culture: embracing the best of the best. That may mean an F50 or a Mercedes Unimog, it'll be nice to see some cool cars that we don't get to see every day regardless of their price or top speed. I'm with Gerry, the more diversity the better! Just my $.02 Jeremy P.S. it looks like the site is live and registration is open for preferred parking spots
Just curious, can you name a few? And I don't mean souped-up drag cars, I mean out of the box, everyday factory cars. Not meant as a slam, but just a question.
The first two that come to mind are Road Runner Superbird and Dodge Charger Daytona Ford GT40, I'm sure a yenko or copo car could as well, not positive though.
We should applaud the effort of those who are trying to get something going other than a Hooters car show. I believe they used a GENERIC picture to represent all cars. Like Ron said, Cars and Coffee cannot be used so what other name would they have come up with. Lets give it a shot and show up and see what this is all about. It's a nice drive up to 'The Glen'. They couldn't have picked a better location!
It's just a name they picked to get ALL car enthusiasts together. Don't be a downer. They'll be many Lambos and F430's there. It's only from 9-11am so let's enjoy it.
Im sure given the community on L4P and 6Speed the turnout wont be mostly detroit iron. If we waited for only a slim definition of supercar then only about 6 parking spaces would be needed. Carla we need to set up a meeting point for the drive to make it fun, or perhaps a planned drive after. I assume once we are there you will nap under a tree until noonish and your morning cranky wears off?
Andrew, You're so right! I am not a morning person, but I think I can do this the 1st Saturday of each month. I will plan a meeting spot to drive up to Northbrook. A drive afterwards is a given! I can't wait!
