I used to hang around Sal's shop with a camera from the mid 60's on taking photographs of Ed's and many others street cars and race cars. I have over 150,000 images from years ago mainly slides from that era at S&A and races and will try and sort some out for posting. Ed do you remember when Bill Harrah in frustration sent his transporter over to Sal's shop for he and Angelo to tune the 250 LMs and or Pcars etc. that his mechanics couldn't get to run right. I took a photo of the three with their tails in the air side by side that was published in a few magazines at the time and I will try to find it and post it for all to see.
I remember getting a call from Sal many times to come over and bring my camera and a few "racing" bagels from accross the street and finding some car that was very special and needed the 1st step in the analysis of what was wrong; a quick ride up the freeway onramp at Roscoe to analyze it's state of tune. That was a thrill that led to a lifelong love of vintage Ferraris.

In the fourth photo you can just see the sign "Gebo" with a number that looks like 7823. By the way, thanks for posting the photos. Question about the yellow 275, is that car similar to Henn's #6885?

"Maybe I was thinking of Claudio Zampolli who lived in both LA and Italy. I believe at one time he was a Ferrari dealer in Italy. "

Hello Dr Schaller: hope you are well. Zampolli was in fact an enginer at the Lamborghini factory in the late sixties early seventies. I saw one of his Cizeta Moroders in Tokyo at a show in December 1992, owned by a Mr Ohba.

    Ed: great photos as always!

    best regards,

    Marc

    To Michiel Mobiel,

Are you sure the yellow GTO is 4757GT ?

Considering the small air intake near the front window I would think it is 4153GT (same as in the 1965 Marathon de la Route livery).

    With Kind Regards,

    Joop van der Meer

    Hi Joop,

I believe it was mentioned earlier when Ed posted some other pictures of the same setting in this or another thread. When I read it I immediately added the number to the image files and saved them.
I could be wrong, though... I'll check.

The story of 4757GT and 4153GT for 1965 in the Ecurie Francorchamps book is completly incoherent as in the Bluemel/Pourret GTO,
at the Marathon de la Route 1965,it was 4757GT.

Yes, Claudio Z. No, I bought the ATS from one of the principals of the company after they closed. It was alleged to be the prototype/show car. I later bought, from the same dude, a racing model or, as they called it, GTS, so I've had 2 of the 12 or so made. I must be into self-abuse of the automotive variety. Yes, I remember the on-ramp. I once took a ride with Sal in customer's 250LM to check out his tune-up, and we got stopped by the CHP on the freeway a bit North of the ramp. The cop was half-way through chewing me out before he realized that I was not the driver! (RHD car). Then he was REALLY mad! And yes, in L.A. the odd numbers are on the West side, so go with what Stu says; he is never wrong. Well, almost never.

Thanks Marc. I got the idea that Claudio was a Ferrari dealer at one time due to this posting on Wiki (see below). I did know that he was also involved with Lamborghini, but didn't know in what capacity. Thanks for the correction..

    From Wiki:
Cizeta Automobili srl of Modena, Italy was a car manufacturer set up in the late 1980s by Claudio Zampolli (an Italian Ferrari dealer) and the record producer Giorgio Moroder.

Note that 4757 has the tacked-on sheet metal piece/cover/guard over the scoop behind the rear wheel on the rear quarter panel. Not a feature I've noticed on other cars and, at least on the model, not applied on 4153.

    Best,
    Dave

    Hi Ed,

In the second picture, to the right of the 250LM, there is a 250 Europa (or 375 America). Do you know which chassis number this is? Thanks.
