Down at Roddy's today, looked over his Spa 24 hour winning,Bathurst 1985 winning TWR Jaguar XJS. What a car, fantastic race history and in very orginal condition, now raced in historic group A. yep,450 bhp.Top speed about 175mph. up till a few years ago held the UK enclosed track record at 175 mph 0 to 100 mpy about 9.8 seconds 0 to 150 mph 21 seconds. This also won a Donington 500k ETCC race Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
hmmmmm....a lot slower than an F40. Does that mean an F40 could have won bathurst? (if they'd been around)
TWR Jaguar XJS group A cars, they built 7 and were very special cars, stuck it right up the Bimmers. And won the 2 races that count Spa and Bathurst. Makes you want to put up a dyno sheet! Image Unavailable, Please Login
It sounds glorious too... a rough, metallic bark! And at least Mr Roddy's car has provenance, as opposed to the one a certain former Bathurst winner in a sister car to this one shows his off to be
this is the winning Goss driven car,as you would know. The Goss car was built up by him from a car givern to him by the then importers JRA?,he was given a TWR shell, but that is now in the UK.Even the motor in the Goss car is built here, its not a TWR unit. IMO he should convert his car back to Group C specs like it raced at the end of that period.Or as it raced at Bathurst in '86 ith Citibank sponorship. Mike's car has wonderful patinia,a old war horse that has not been over restored ie Yankied for a show.
no I was to busy torqueing to Mike about my dyno sheet. Some very smart gear in that car ie like a timer to tell 'em when to stop putting oil in the oil tank at a pit stop. water cooled brakes. i think the motor was out of her as their was a bloke on a jig near the car. its a shame they never raced them at lemans. Mike was saying that Walkinshaw turned the motor to 9,000 revs. Diff ration is tall like a 70 mph 1st gear. its a big thumbs up from me.
Very nice, remember when it broke the drivers racing seat during the Bathurst race? For mine, best XJS is the 1000HP+ road registered ex K.B.Packer job
Great sounding cars. That was a great time IMO. Cars weren't that far removed from the road cars. Great driver to in Denny. Was there on that sad day. You're dreaming at 500k. I've never on here seen you value a car much over 100k.
those brakes wouldnt look out of place on modern race car......love those days ..lots of cars ...no rules for engines or number of cylinders
