I don't know about anyone else, but I could listen (or read) these two forever. Just the right amount of F1 insight from bygone days along with some good BS...
Good story. Bernie was smart enough to rein back Niki is the sucker car. At least for qualifying. Niki should have kept his cool and finished second or third in the car and sandbagged the rest of that season. A podium here and there and a victory last two races. Going out and clobbering your opponents first time is a great way to get banned. Colin Chapman could squeeze a WDC now and then without a ban finishing off the season before it started. Ross Brawn still has one or two things to learn from the old masters.
No punches pulled in the interview, easy to understand why they didn't need a contract. The Piquet tire anecdote and Lauda's comment "everything Bernie said happened.." are stand outs. Great interview.
My favorite quote: "Formula One was for men, not lads." And the sobering comment about leaving information at the hotel in case you didn't come back...
Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, and Gilles Villeneuve are all on pedestals to me. Two of three still alive. Almost a miracle.
A personal opinion of course! Many others the equal of those. Niki was always friendly back in the day, I never met GV and JS was a snob!
