What sort of value would you put on the tools and books for a 330GT 2+2 if you were buying a car without them?

Retail for full, original books and tools is $5k-$8k possibly more. However, they don't make the car run any better and you will not use the originals anyway. You can download all of the literature from the owners site (or Kerry's site , I think) and pick up all the (non-original but fully functional) tools you will need for a few hundred $.

ART S is right on the money. $5-8K easy, depending on condition.

guess I got a better deal than I thought! Certainly if you want to do better than an original set there are some good reproduction rolls and tools out there.

So does that mean a car without the tools and books would be worth up to $9000.00 ($1000 for books) less than a car with them?

    outofpocket,

In theory, yes. Usually, not quite (especially on 2+2s). This is why many 2+2s no longer have their original books and tools. These are expensive extras needed for the show circuit.

Handbooks in the wallet with a dealer directory is worth a hell of a lot more than 1000$
Multitudes of 1000s more, multitudes. Dealer directory is 1000+ alone

    FYI

Books and tools are expected on higher priced platinum level cars.
Rarely expected in average or entry level 330s. If present, certainly not complete.

The absence of the jewelry really does not effect the prices of average or project cars.

Gee, I don't know H00kem. You had all the information, said that you would sell them at the top of the range and Tom accepted your offer in less than 30 minutes.

Seems like a valid offer and acceptance to me.

But I guess you are entitled to change your mind.

It does provide some valid market info, if you have the real deal though.

They really are not, especially if no picture so we know what we are even talking about.
Just wanted to size you up. You are now sized.

Just wanted to see if a CHATTER was talking.

    Why should I expect different,
Not many DOERS on the Chat list.

Tom, thanks so much for sizing me up. Just another great service of a free chat board I guess. Hope that part you sold me is real. Then again, maybe I got the same deal on it as I did the tool roll? You're a hell of a swell guy.

I really like this thread. It's an interesting example of where internet clashes with real life.

h00kem, you did answer the question rather quickly and seriously inaccurately. And Tom called on it.

You just questioned whether the part Tom sold you is real. Tom is, in my opinion, a very straight shooter and I wouldn't question his honesty on a public forum.

I'm guessing he challenged you because your price was so far off. Please don't feel the need to challenge him in return. I don't think you'd win that showdown. Everyone here agrees that he knows his stuff. (I'd be curious to hear what the part you bought from him is.)

But there's also an odd factor: you're a customer of Tom's. And I think Tom has an obligation to his reputation to point out a price inaccuracy like you posted. And I find it interesting that he did it independent of upsetting one specific customer.

I think Tom aims for fairness and truth in his dealings, whether you like him or not. And I respect that.

And, like I said, I find this thread really interesting.

    Matt

I agree. If you don't like the price don't buy (or sell), but he won't try to sell a fake as real in my experience.
