So a sponsorship not only buys you a pretty banner and link at the top of the page, it also gets any and all competition edited out of the thousands of posts here on fchat? This does not sit right with me. Now I am with you on removing blatant spamming by non-sponsors who are only trying to slip in freebie advertising. But aside from that I view the pages of the forum as a "free speech" area. If something/someone is good, it gets talked about. If something/someone sucks, it gets talked about. The sponsors should understand this. Nothing more, nothing less.
The powers that be seem to pick and choose which potential sponsers that want mentioned here which ones they don't....So basically you cannot post any good, bad, or indifferent inexperience from any other place unless it is a sponser here...??? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! They played this same game with Ferrparts, I remember a thread awhile back on it.....
Hold on here boys, let’s not fall into the trap of mob mentality, that will just burn you for something that isn't a big issue and will get resolved. It is complex because there are many interests involved. Users Are certainly allowed to recommend products & services. Doesn't matter if they are a sponsor or not. We don't allow plants though. Ferrparts and the Dave Helms thread in question were not deleted, the recommendations are still available for search. All I called was "time out" to work through the issue and resolve. Don't you think if FerrariChat had a fundamental problem here we wouldn't have made it this far? You are willing to lose all trust in my administration and decision making over this one thing just because I call a "time out". If so, then I'm really disappointed in some of you for being so fragile. Sponsors I couldn't care less about adding another sponsor. There are plenty. Other sponsors however care if someone is able to promote for free after they make sacrifices. It is about being fair. There would be no reason for commercial sponsors and subscribers would have to pick up the extra costs. Dave Helms Dave Helms has gone mostly untouched for the history of FerrariChat. He has never paid FerrariChat.com a cent, but has added much value to the community in return he has been able to promote his business where he has made cents off FerrariChat. Do other Sponsors still not add value outside their sponsorship? Daniel at Ricambi? James at Norwoods? Ferrari UK? Universal has several ask the experts threads for free. etc... Dave has threatened me before about what he would do to FerrariChat if we stopped his free promotion. I find Dave very abrasive and baiting me into a fight for someone that has received free promotion on FerrariChat since Day 1. Why is it we don't have a problem with anyone else, just Dave? So hold on to your horses. Don't take it personally users if I'm not allowing FerrariChat to be walked over. I have a 9 year history of doing what's best for the overall community, you are going to give up on me because I called a "time out" with Dave to work things out? This thread is closed until the "time out" is over for your own good. Please don't make us start moderating users trying to make things worse at this point. I do understand how much you like Dave and the value he adds to FerrariChat.
