I am a huge fan of both his music and his taste in cars! He is one of the few geezer rockers from my youth who is still creating new music and performing his old music in new ways instead of just replaying his old hits the same old way. Recent favorites include his 2001 tour cd (recent is a relative term when his career goes back 45+ years, 8 years is practically yesterday) and his even more recent collaborations with JJ Kale and BB King among others. And the 250 GT SWB is my hands down favorite vintage Ferrari, even moreso than the 250GTO. The Lusso ranks very high as well based on its elegant looks and styling.
The Lusso with 4HLA is 5677 - originally Grigio Argento with Red VM 3171 interior and was first registered May 1964.
I saw the Lusso at the Classiche shops in May. It is a stunning car. I believe the SWB may have been sold to Australia, but not sure about that. Jack
It's nice to see that big **** eating grin on his face. It lets you know that even with all the fame and success he's still crazy about his car just like the average ferrari owner is.
In his autobiography he tells about rolling his Dino and more recently shows a photo about driving his daughter in his 575M ferrari sulla pellicola (aka Bongo) introduced me to EC at the bar at Pebble Beach in 1992 after the Sunday Monterey event there.
I also was at Maranello in May and I shoot EC's car at Classiche section (although I didn't know it was EC's car....). I think I read somewhere on his autobiography he also had a 365 GTB/4. Love his musics and his taste about italian cars!!!!!!!! Unforutunally he only came twice to Portugal: one to see Elton John's show and other to performe by himself (I went to his show, of course!!!!). I was really impressed about his autobiography where he tells also his life... So, this is the case to say: "Clapton is God"!!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
man Fcars as i know, more than Barcetta can say on his web. as the same time of the interview he gets a Fiorano, and he latest is a California.
Thats great! I just wasn't sure if for some cars there was a registry people refer too etc... I have access to some old files of some of the most significant F-cars, but everyday the knowledge on this site baffles me!
I read that he had 6 Ferraris by time he was 24. Also that the 365 GTC was his favorite. I think he crashed his back in the early 70's, not sure though.
I remember a record sleeve with a crashed Ferrari under a carport next to his house. I reckoned it as a dark 365 GT4/BB. It was a long time ago. I think on the sleeve of his album Backless?
I've found front & back of that album on the internet but doesn't show any crashed Boxers. Another album maybe? Or perhaps a different release? Onno
