We replaced the front bonnet and windshield (only items replaced) following left front collision damage a couple years ago. can you say FRAUD...
Tough to say if its good to save one hit that hard. Doesnt look to be fixed properly either so the BIN is a tad high, to me in the 60's makes sense especially since it will always have a cloud hanging over it. Would it be better to part it out and keep the used parts flowing for the rest of us? I could use an engine for a coffee table
Wow. I saw that listing (for the 'fixed' car) earlier today and thought, "that looks kinda scuzzy". Inconsistent description, wretched photos, spotty wording like 'This is the original color, but new paint for an up to date shine' whatever that means. Probably not EVEN the original color, unless the 'before' pics were taken after a color change. Unlikely. Just plain 'wow'. That is incredible detective work there Newman. Fchat saves members lots of headaches.
Not sure about the color Adams, the car could have been red way back when. Gotta admit a color change and a total revamp distances it from its past life pretty well. I have to thank Sam for giving me the link to update my files then low and behold I saw I had already noted it as the black one from f-chat! Ding ding ding ding!
The photos are very poor quality, the front end looks like it sits too high, the right front wheel has a bunch of positive camber, the headlight doors don't fit and are not painted. What do you suppose a good inspection would turn up? The parts bill alone burned up a great big piece of his BIN price if it was repaired well. That car should have been parted out.
Dang, looks like some good old cajun boys got a hold of this Ferrari. I can just picture them workin' on it: Boudreaux and Thibodeaux were restoring a Boxer. Boudreaux wanted to check his new wiring. So he told Thibodeaux to go in the back and check the lights. Thibodeaux said press the brakes, both lights came on and he said, "It works". Boudreaux put on the right signal and Thibodeaux said, "It works, it don't, it works, it don't, it works, it don't". Yea... go Tigers.
Might as well keep all the info on this car here for the future owner. Title: Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512i Last True Racer. Flat 12! Mileage: 24,000 miles Location: Baton Rouge LSU Tigers LA 1983 Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512i. Last true racer sold by Ferrari. A true collector item. The BBS true knock off wheels are time correct. We also have several OEM wheels as well. The amber driving lenses are aftermarket. We replaced the front bonnet and windshield (only items replaced) following left front collision damage a couple years ago. It also has a new red paint job, with the black bottom. This is the original color, but new paint for an up to date shine. This car runs and drives. What a find. Good luck bidding. All items sold as is where is, inspect before bidding not after. The correct VIn is ZFFJA09B000041825. As you may know, it is impossible to get ebay to accept ferrari and Lamborghini Vin numbers into their boilerplate from this era. I do not know what there problem is. On Jan-12-10 at 21:43:50 PST, seller added the following information: The odometer reads 27000 kilometers, which must be about 18000 miles. I noted it also had 6 new Koni shocks on it. All glass is perfect. This answer from the seller is classic: Yes, car is mobile and running properly, no smoke or noise. Sorry, I have no other photos. I cant think of anything to repair. They must have run out of money for the hood badge. I beileve this shop wanted to buy my hood but I wanted too much $$ fot it. The car just doesn't look right its stance, wheels and everything else. Looks like they went the cheap route on everything to repair it or didn't know what they were doing.
I dont see the flash to pass lights or the BBi bumper lights. The car has the market specific external gas tank door lock which is kinda cool. You can see it on the black car too if you look closely. 512bbnevada had an NOS front clamshell as well, I gave the guy working on the black boxer his number but im not sure if he bought it from him though. I would love to see what it looks like under the hood! Ill see if I can get more shots.
What a disaster. I hope nobody is crazy enough to bid on that project. If so, they will be in for shock therapy shortly after. This Boxer should have been parted out.
I dont think they even cleaned off the bondo dust in the interior shot. Seller couldnt possibly provide any other pictures? These guys are looking for a sucker.
I bet you're right. Looking at the pictures again and except for the very last picture it looks like it is missing the entire grille and I don't see any fans in there either.
I was looking at that one yesterday, too. Just looks "wrong" in too many ways. Glossy black on the deck spoiler and manifold covers, glossy "Boxer trim", the missing grill, the condition of the interior..... A front grill is there for the exterior shot, and the rear grill looks twisted/wavy/wonky in its outdoor shot, where you can see the edge lines. Another part of the description that stood out to me: Sounds like they're trying to imply that it was nearly a barn find, to excuse the (likely intentional) bad pics, and condition portrayed. And yeah, good luck with this one - reminds me of the low-budget salvage title rebuilder cars out there, with structural Bondo. I'm guessing that those extra wheels are the surviving RF (still true?) and the two rears. Yep, they're looking for a sucker. With cash.
