Hello Does anyone have a list of Mondial chassis numbers and their corresponding engine numbers? I am in the process of correcting a wrong engine number (identical to the chassis number) in my car's registration document and need some "back-up" to convince the local administration that indeed the 2 numbers are NOT identical. I am told that the engine in my car had been changed, which I have no reason to believe. Thank you for information! Urs
im interested in finding out how many mondials were built each year and how many of them were LHD and RHD? anyone?
Paolo, Jimmie is referencing this thread, but it doesn't have engine numbers. Urs, can you tell us the serial number of your Mondial?
Urs, are you able to photograph the engine number? I know that the engine number on a Mondial t is visible if you can really get in there with some good light and a good camera, but I don't know if it's visible on a QV. If you're not sure, Brian Crall might know exactly where the engine type and number are located, and whether or not they're photographable while the engine is in the car.
Carbon, the engine number is only visible (photographable) with the warm-up regulator removed - that is how I was able to clean the area and read the number. The engine type is correct for the car.
What is the engine type? F105A? You can't show the picture to the appropriate authority to correct your registration?
Yes it is an F105A. And nothing indicates it is not the original engine (the bay looks from 1983...) The authorities treat it as an engine swap (!) eventhough it is their carelessness that produced the wrong number in the reg. document in the first place.... my guess is that they couldn't find it during the first local registration, so they copied the chassis number so they have something to fill in.
What about a certificate of originality (or whatever it's called) from the factory, which includes the VIN, the engine number, the date of production and the original colors? I'm sorry for your troubles - it seems that motor vehicle departments are incompetent all around the world, not just here in the states. From the limited number of Mondial engine numbers that I have, yours fits right in and appears to be the original engine.
Thanks for your information - have you compiled your own chassis vs engine number list? I have contacted Ferrari locally, in Italy and in the UK, to no result (yet). Still hoping, the local representation has acknowledged my request. It seems to me that they are (much) more interested in selling new cars though. I can understand that, but it doesn't make me want to buy a new car from them... I will contact the transport dept. here again next week and have some hope that I can find a reasonable solution once they really understand my request. But a document to back up my request would obviously help a lot.
I'm trying to collect as much information on as many Ferraris as possible, which includes engine numbers. I believe - but I am not certain - that engine numbers were a separate series for each model back when your car was built. For Mondial QV Coupe 45977, I have engine number 00952; for Mondial QV Coupe 47753, I have engine number 01235. Your car falls right in between those two cars. But 512 BBi 46647 has engine number 00586, and BBi 46663 has engine number 00582; and then BBi 47081 has engine number 00613. So who knows... I wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted.
Good info but Two figures in the overview are definitely wrong: 1) Mondial QV Coupe starting chassis number (49837) Should be in the 39 to 42000 somewhere, maybe 39837 2) Mondial t cabrio last chassis number 9773 One digit is missing, should read 977x3 or 9773x
With contacts from F-Chatters I've gotten a document from Ferrari North Europe stating my car's numbers, which in turn convinced the local authorities that indeed the numbers in their records were to be corrected... I did get the proper registration document last week, for free (miracles do exist). Thank you all for your great support!
there seems to be a discrepency with the number chart listed, my 1985 mondial QV coupe has a chassis number of 58759 with the engine number 02400073 build date of 9/85, all numbers match and varified by ferrari dealer australian delivered
