Been itching to use the Griot's Satin Black Enamel sprays I picked up a couple of years ago, so I decided to put it to good use. Never liked the conspicuousness of the tag, and that it seems to detract from the interior, so I made it less visible. The area with the tag identification was masked prior to painting, so it can be revealed if need so. I also wanted to remount it high up along the glass edge, but found that it interferes with the visors. I think it looks good. Thoughts? We can't do that anymore. We have stupid electronic stickers. I don't see what's so difficult in making the damn things looks decent.
I've never even thought of painting mine! I don't leave it up, but I always hate that white thing hanging there. Now I know what I'll be doing Saturday!
I thought of that but plate covers are illegal in Illinois. Also, work keeps complaining about "you can't commit crimes and arrest people the next day"..blah blah blah. Rules, rules, rules
Don't forget to paint the velcro surfaces as well. The only surface that I could not paint was the side with the adhesive, but the black paint from the opposing surface shows through the translucency well enough. Whoa... Yes indeed: if they can't read the plate, so what if pics of the plate are snapped! Yes!
I think they make one that screws into the front license plate holes. Read near the bottom "Can I use I-PASS if I have GPS or a special windshield?" http://www.illinoistollway.com/portal/page?_pageid=133,1392808&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
