Gawd, the biggest morning show around keeps growing! Thanks in part to gorgeous weather, the show cars were continuing back past Panera Bread. I can foresee the day where the show will take over The Avenue's entire lot!

Highlights included old and new Mercedes Gullwings, two very different Mangustas, a Mosler, a Ford GT-X1, a spectacular '34 Cadillac "resto-mod", the new SAAB 9-5, a Lamborghini Countach QV, and even.......a bumper car!

I'll put the whole lot in a Photobucket folder in a day or two, but in the meantime, here are some pics:

The only book event was a sidewalk sale at Borders and that didn't affect parking at all. The Avenues website listed it as starting at 10:00 but I went by there later than that and they were still closed. They normally open at 11:00 on Sunday and they seemed to be sticking to that.

Seeing Allan was a pleasant surprise; he said that he had been "in hibernation" but I didn't ask him to elaborate. The Turbo S looked great; I wonder what it replaces in his collection?

And I think we can finally put this one to rest: holidays have NO effect on C&O attendance!

Great pictures, Jim. Thanks for sharing. This has to be one of the most amazing collection of cars in one place, period. I can't think of anything that even comes close.

Glad to hear Alan is running his bad machines again!

I have to get up to them thar parts one of these days.

    Ciao,
    George

Yeah, George, in all that sheer volume of cars today -- NO Maseratis!

It was amazing. I got there at 7:58am and was lucky to get one of the last spots in the left smaller lot. Cars were still flooding in an hour later. Any bigger and you will have to camp out the night before.

Is there a bigger monthly car show in the Southeast? Who knows how many cars were there? Over 500?

    Books? Never saw one book.

    Jack

The MERAK is going through a gas tank repair and restoration phase. Once back together again, I'll plan on attending.

The GTX1 is the prototype. It's also the very car that was on Top Gear and lots of other TV shows, magazines, etc. North Georgia sure has a lot of neat cars.

Jim, Thanks for the pics. It was good to see you too. This gathering is beginning to become a big spectator event. I'm sure many of the people came just to see the cars rather than bringing one. Lot's of kids and dogs too. Bob, I really hoped to see you all there. I've been "eying" your car from afar and hoped we could have them sitting next to each other. Oh well., next time. BTW, this Turbo is not an "addition" to my collection, it is my only collection (cars that is). Allan

Another good turnout. It seems people start getting there earlier and earlier ever week. I was not to thrilled about the e92 M3, challenger, and gtx1 taking up two spots each.

Re: cars taking up more space than necessary-
This Plymouth owner was none too pleased when the 356 showed up and parked in the only space available mid morning (a year ago). If it had been me, I'd have parked even closer to make the point!

Here's the flyer from this month's gathering. The show is always the 1st Sunday of the month, so the next one will be on 10/3. I just wonder who will have recovered from the previous day's Petit Le Mans!
