Does anyone know a 1/18 model builder that makes 612 P4/5?
Yow Model made one in 1/43rd resin. Garage 24 made one in 1/24th scale in kit form. None in 1/18th scale. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2011-Chicago April 2011
there is also this one,but from the pics i have seen of this kit..it's horrible. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300454554357&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQE:1123&afsrc=1 it's a 1/18 transkit.only one i have seen offered, and i would presume not a legal product.and after jim see's this,it may not be around much longer either.
You're talking about the sixties sports racer. The OP talks about the Enzo based tribute to that. Search for "Glickenhaus P4/5" and you'll be up to speed soon enough.
Would you mind telling us from what manufacturer? I am not familiar with the legal procedings surrounding the make of of a model like that, but I realy hope it is not going to be limited to a $900 resin brick without much detail. APM and Versus make great stuff, but not quite accurate and their prices are outrageous. Kyosho would be my choice, as they already hae an Enzo to base it on and do fantastic job with their models at a reasonable price. But this is just my wishfull thinking.
Excuse me?? You are talking to a man of great taste, as well as attention to detail....... Welcome to our new chatter, the OP........good to hear it's nearing production. That's a major part of the licensing agreement I'd think, locating a vendor capable and committed to the quality control side..... Of course that will yield a MSRP of $900USD.....LOL! No, hopefully not!
BigTex, I know full well who Napolis is and I am not questioning his taste even for a minute. His attention to detail neither. APM make good stuff, but like I said their models are not always perfect and they start at $900. As far as I know, the only difference mechacaly from a regular Enzo is the exhaust, which, together with the beauty of the engine, would be completely lost in a sealed model, because the rear window is pretty much black. To the best of my knowledge APM make only sealed models. I am just speculating, but I think it would make sence to turn to someone who already has an Enzo model developped. Well that's BBR. Their Enzo however was actually made by Kyosho, but marketed under BBR because of the license issues at the time. IIRC Kyosho have their own license now. IMHO they can produce an outstanding model and keep it within $200. This is a price that that I'll pay without hesitating. Will I pay $300+ for a BBR branded one? Yes. But I am part of the minority in this case, believe me. Look for example at the new McLaren F1 model that AutoArt made. I have it and have to say that it is a trully exceptional model. And no offense to Napolis, but it is a car with much bigger following than the P4/5. Still a lot of hardcore collectors said they would not buy it because of it's price. I have pretty much every diecast Ferrari ever made in 1:18 and I would absolutely love to add Jim's beauty to my collection, but I wouldn't do it if it comes at $800+
For the record: mclaren F1 google 1,050,000 Ferrari P 4/5 google: 4,810,000 P 4/5 Competizione: 1,180,000
I don't think this is an indication. There are dancing babies videos on Google that have even made it into the news with more hits than that. But it does not mean anything as a year from now, no one would even know they existed. Please don't get me wrong. I have contributed to quite few of those Google numbers for the P4/5 and none to the McL. I like your car way better and on my list it sits higher than the F1. But c'mon, realistically?... I am sure that if it is made in limited edition of 100 pieces or something of this sort from resin, there is going to be at least one more customer willing to pay the price. It would just be a shame that so many enthusiasts would have to do without it in their collections if that is the case. I admire you for taking on the project of bringing the P4/5 to life and even more so for not keeping it locked up in a showroom. Some great man centuries ago has said that a treasure is worthless unless shared with others. From what I have seen you have a similar approach and the point I am trying to make is, that it would be great for the same principal to be applied in scale, for all of us that can not afford the real things and collect them in miniature.
You're talking to a numbers man.....that's his day job..... I want it in die cast, to hold all these NASA papers down, that fly around my office in the air conditioning......... Good to hear about the Competition version!! There's money in the tshirts and ball caps, too...can I run that trailer???
Napolis, I am sure you can't disclose anything, but can you at least tell us if the plans are for sealed resin or opening diecast? Perhaps both, to keep everyone happy?
I assume you have thousands of dollars of Ferrari 1:18 models if you pretty much have them all?? So whats another $800 or so for a P 4/5 model if you have thousands invested in them anyways? Just my thoughts of course. I have around AU $3K in 1:18 Ferrari models. I have around 52 of them, all in red but one. I have far from 'all of them' in 1:18, but I wouldnt hestitate spending $800 on the P 4/5 if I wanted to add it to my collection. Its not like there will be a few toy company's making them. Havent got much choice if you want one.
You need some more "colors" PAP, early on I realized this and I have tons of racing variants to kind of "mix it up"!
