Ok that song is just wrong in all the right ways! I love it!
The problem is that you can't say to many people... "Hey, there is this very catchy new song that is great. Very cool melody, perfectly sang, like old Motown stuff" "Cool, who sings it?" "Cee lo Green, he is the singer from Gnarles Barkley" "So what is the song called?" "Ummm, **** You."
BTW, what does it say about our society that people would get worked up over **** but no one has said a word about the repeated use of the N-word rhyming in the chorus? Does that say something good, or something bad, about the state of race relations?
Sorry, catchy tune, but can do without the excessive cursing. Kids will hear this and think it's OK to use this word freely. Surely not a good thing. Class and decorum are surely things fading into the past. Greg PS--I'm a professional musician/producer, and can appreciate the production values in the song, but that's not the focus of the song--it's the gleeful use of a filthy word...
What do race relations have to do with anything in this video as I see no other ethnic backgrounds saying it? Why can't we just enjoy the context of the video without bringing racial relations into the mix?
Wow, ya'll really put some thought into this. I just think it's good for stress relief heh.Oh and have a Maranello Christmas.
I am not commenting on whether it is appropriate to have it in there or not. Actually it fits perfectly. And in the "radio" version, Forget You, they only delete it out rather than replace it. It was just an observation I had after reading comments here. I'm sure many people would be offended by ****, although N is a much, much, more offensive word in the historical context. A car full of white kids in Alabama singing "Just though you should know, n**** " might be taken the wrong way by some. If it makes your head hurt to consider this, then don't think about it.
If you have problems saying "**** You" as the song name, say the name of the edited radio version which is "Forget You" That works surprisngly well.
Hey shouting out a big **** you! to all the Cee Lo haters ou there. Merry ****ing Christmas and a Happpy, Healthy ****ing New Year. Marc
I haven't really listened to much of Cee Lo since his days with Goodie Mob, but I have to admit that this song is very catchy. I really liked his old stuff. Ahh.. those were the good old days, when Outkast was cool.
