I think they're Ferrari specific. You're stuck paying a ton for these.

This is the lockable map pocket on the back of the passenger seat. Check this thread prior to bidding for a key on e-bay.

    Complete Thread Details:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=139975237#post139975237

As with many items on e-bay, buyers should take caution when bidding being careful to do their homework and pay fair market value. Allways do a search on F-Chat to see if other owners have reported sources prior to bidding.
A good example of this is an e-bay auction where several people recently bid on a simple map pocket latch key for a 308. The auction ended with a bid war between 4 people and the key went for $51 + $9.95 shipping. The key can be readily had from a company in Ohio for $1.00 ea.

I have known that I was missing the key for the map pocket (located on the back of the passenger seat) on my 308 GTS QV. I had some time to do some homework and asked a local 84' 308 GTS QV owner that has one of the most original 308's I've ever seen inspect his key. The key has a triangular (not oval) shaped cutout in the finger grasp. Doing a simple search on F-Chat, I found a thread started years ago http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...ompartment+key with a link to company in Solon, Ohio called Ohio Travel Bag http://www.ohiotravelbag.com/Products.html
Check their catalog at http://www.ohiotravelbag.com/P210_Hardware_Catalog/index.htm Page 109, Item 1769K imported luggage key. I gave them a call at 1-800-800-1941 and the keys are $1.00 ea. + $7.00 shipping. I ordered 5, will keep 2 for myself, and give the other 3 to a few local friends with 308's.

As for the $50 I saved, I'll fill up the tank this weekend and have a nice extended fall drive.
Hopefully, no F-Chat members over bid on this readily available key.

    Dave

Anybody have a source for the plastic vapor line check valve (#124193)? The usual suspects want $140-$190 for it. I've heard suggestions it's possibly a cross on early Nissans.

Trying to get a definative cross reference for rear brake calipers on a 308 gt4. From what I've read in various places I've heard early Porsche 911 or 914 and read front Kia Sephia? Does anyone know for sure which rear calipers would bolt in and operate in a 308 gt4? Thanks

Same as a 914 Porsche with a spacer between the two halfs. That is the only diff. Understand that the 328 and Mondial 3.2 use a kia sephia front caliper in the rear. Diff brake set up on the 308 series cars. Yes you can buy pads for a 914 for the rear of a 308 series car. You can also use pads for a 911 for the front. Can't remember which one exactly. All of the above I have done on my own cars.

I have read some posts of engine lid struts but not one of Front lid strut of 328/308

I have 328 europe model 1987 and think it has the same strut as US 328 model, don't know 308.
Strut is not filled with gas, has a small ball to secure position. Anyone Idea of partno?/adres to order?

    Thanks Fred

    Hi All,

Two more for the list, I think they are both new additions, and both fit my 78 GTS #26451:

    1) Front Wheel bearing seal: SKF 17257

This is the seal that goes against the inner bearing and drives in place. On my car, 26451, there was also a dust cover that slips over this and I reused my original dustcover.

This new seal also has the spring, a kind of collar around the sealing surface, that the original did not. This should be an improvement making a more durable seal.

    2) Air conditioner belt idler (tensioner) pulley: SKF 6002-2RS JEM (two required)

The idler pulley for the air conditioner belt takes two of these little bearings. Be careful. There is a snap ring and spacer in between them, so you can't just press them out together. You have to push them out each side.

Hope this helps somebody out there!

    Jeff

This took some footwork to get done. There are a couple cross references already posted that don't work for the 308, but probably do for the 328.

New dryer from Advance Auto Parts (and many other suppliers)- $32 or less. This is a Four Seasons part number 33444. Fits a 1985 BMW 318i. As you probably know, but I didn't, the dryer should be changed periodically, it is not a once in a lifetime part.

    http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Filter-Drier-Factory-Air_3892999-P_2948_R%7CGRP60000_888748811___

Here are comparison photos. The new part has two metal tabs that you can easily cut off (already done in the photos). The extra piece you see in the photos is a pressure valve (a good thing), which doesn't get in the way at all. In the photos you can't see the threads for the shipping caps. The new one works- I've checked the threads, it fits the bracket, and even has the sight glass.

    Best to all, Jeff

And here is another, maybe the final one I have for the 308 air conditioning system:

    Part number 106644 expansion valve-

Try NAPA TEM 207307, see picture for comparison. Of course, threads match up no problem. This particular valve is marked for R134, I'm sure you can get similar for R12.

The particular NAPA valve is for 1985 Ford E150 Econoline van with 6 cylinder engine. That is the kind in the Scooby Doo cartoons....

Just a thought...Those are gonna be some pretty cheap brake pads! It's good to have the base number, so why not get a better quality pad with the application information?

my pleasure :) . I sent a message to a Mod as to why this thread is not "sticky" anymore.

I have had several recent "thank you" pm's about creating this thread, for all of us. :)

I will be adding more 328 info, as soon as my 328 is delivered and we take it all apart!
