Never take what anyone in F1 says at face value.
Mike controls his destiny as much of any of us. How much you think that is depends on on your theology :)

It really depends on what's being said. If a driver says they are going to beat someone, I take that at face value vs. kissing up to another driver appears to be more posturing than anything else. Still, they don't have to say anything at all if they don't want to

Crazy how the practice times are about identical to last year. Not the order for drivers/teams mind you, but the times are dead on.

I'm starting to think Vettel and Webber might just bust into a 1:23 lap if everything goes right.......... Vettel was the only one to hit that mark last year. Exciting !!

I'll bet you they don't. Mid-high 1:24s will be all of it, IMO.

Somewhere between this picture and the double stacked MB radiators is the answer to that other thread why F1 thinks its cooler than NASCAR.

These pieces look like something out of a spaceship or a fighter jet.

When a car came out on inters at the end of Practice two yesterday it was announced by SPEED that if any car had wets or inters no other car could use the adjustable wing.
I know that the wing adjusters are deactivated in wet conditions but there seems to be room for manipulation if one team can deprive all other cars use by just switching one set of tires.

I thought it was only when the conditions were wet as it is determined by the Fia, who in turn orders the wings deactivated until they say otherwise.

As did I. As did the SPEED announcers before it happened.

Odd that tires alone on one team could have such an impact. Stranger things have happened

That's the photo I referred to.
Explain to me how the lower wishbone is above the drive shaft?

The driveshaft is joined to the rear wheel hub with a very flexible CV joint attached to a severely angled halfshaft. Williams is running more upward angle on their halfshafts than any team ever and they started dyno testing this 'box about 10 months ago specifically to iron out the issue of all the angle they were running. I can't imagine any team has such a low CG at the back end of their car.

Odd looking to say the least. I must be showing my age but those angles look just plain wrong ;)

It's my impression that the desired benefit of the design was aero and the lower CG an added bonus.
