I drove a used 911 for years as a DD and put on over 100k miles. Sold it for $2000 less than I paid for it. The best DD on the planet.
I had a 911 (997) as a daily for a few years. Traded it in and regretted it ever since. Despit having a nice car, there really is nothing like a 911. I want mine back.
ran some errands in the 997 today; let her play with her cousins for a while Image Unavailable, Please Login
Personally, I love this new campaign. I'd like to see them show more track action. One great thing about the brand is the usability. They've gotten it across with the Cayenne, but I don't think your avg. Joe understands how day-to-day these cars actually are. I stuffed groceries and dog food in a Boxter S on a few occasions and loved the looks I got walking to the car with multiple bags. And then, the twisties are fun all the way home!
I am seriously considering a 996C4/C4S as a DD, year round here in S-W Ontario where we get our share of snow. I know the ad shows snow being cleared off the car but can we really get away with driving it in snow? What about the ride height? Is there much difference between the C4 and C4S as far as year round ability is concerned? If I could get away with this, it would be life changing!
It will probably be about as susceptible as any other car to rust, etc, when driven in the snow. I drive my 944 in the the snow/ice, mine has a LSD and I like how it handles. I clean the car off afterward to try to get rid of the salt. My other issue aside from salt, is ground clearance, here in the south, everyone brings out or borrows a neighbors big lifted 4x4 to drive anywhere. This means my front spoiler becomes a snow plow. I am much more comfortable though in the snow/ice in my 944, then a 4x4. Beyond that, I really don't know.
I would imagine less-so. Aren't all Porsche's galvanized, which isn't the case with most other cars (particularly of the 944 era)? All the best, Andrew.
Porsche's are great cars. Had a 997.1 GT3 and loved it. Moved from that car into a Lambo Superleggera and found the fit and finish of the car to be at least on par with my P-car. The paint on the Lambo was hands down better. But it's a 3-layer hand applied paint job and the car itself costs a quite a bit more, so the paint/fit and finish should be better. Again, not taking anything away 911's as there is a flavor to suit almost any taste or driving condition. Probably will have another variant of the car someday--GT2 or GT2RS come to mind. .
put 50k miles on that SL and report back awesome car though, wouldn't mind having one of those in the garage
Excellent ad...I love how the "school bus" 911 at the end was yellow. Attention to details. Someday I will own a TT...993 please?
