Just giving this thread a bump to keep it fresh in your mind. If you have an "eligible" car, sign up! It doesn't cost anything, you'll get free lunch, see a lot of other neat cars, and most importantly, make a kid happy!
Final preparations are underway for Rides to Remember and it looks like participation will, once again be fantastic. The number of kids enrolled is BIG so the count on cars-to-kids will be close. Weather reports for Saturday are fantastic so conditions for our drive look perfect. Thanks to you, some wonderful young people will have a Ride to Remember!
Current weather forecast on Saturday is, sunny throughout, with temperatures rising from 72 at 8 AM to 88 at 1 PM; perhaps a bit warm at the end, but nothing that we can't handle, right? Y'all come!
I will be there, looking forward to it and meeting some new people. I hope the vintage can handle the heat
drivers so far. Looks like this will be a big event. It's a great car week with Rides to Remember this weekend and the National Meet next weekend.
Drivers meeting needs to REALLY remind folks to keep a safe distance, not get into any "accordian" type manuevers.......so the line moves at a smooth pace with no close-calls.
That's right: don't "back off" from the car in front so that you can "get a run" at it, but also don't stay too close to the car in front, either, or the whole line tends to slow down.
People from "The North".......... not NYC.....just pain ol' lets say 400/x12 and above. A few of us will be at the BP station, 400/x12 (which is, if heading south, literally to the right of the exit ramp).....at 7:30....to leave. See you all tomorrow!
We are all in breakdown mode but feel great knowing we just hosted the largest Rides event ever. 110 cars and 94 children made this one for the record book. I'm sure pictures will be up soon. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the kids!

Here are my photos from today. The turnout was amazing...thanks to FoA for putting this on! http://www.flickr.com/photos/zonderf/sets/72157626886357800/
this was my first time and it was a great event. even thought i had no co-pilot and a falcon's cheerleader didn't want a ride in my car...i'll plan on doing it again next year.
Plus Charles got the watch......... Rick took 1st place for the cars.......... and Andy handed me a defective $5 bill which is probably what happened during the raffles. From the front of the pack, the police escort did an awsome job......man they were ALL OVER the entrance ramps and keeping the other cars at-bay so the lines could proceed. (Not sure what the deal was with a few cars breaking from the line and screamin up the left side of the line)
No Kid wanted a ride in my 66 Mustang, I did get to take a mother for a ride though. My wife drove my Porsche, her and her passenger had a blast doing 90+ mph up 400. One of her favorite moments in a car. Thanks FoA for putting this on and allowing us to be a part of it
Here is my video of the depature point from Seasons 52. If you ever wondered what your car sounded like going past, here ya are! Had to switch camera angles about halfway through due to people getting in the way, but I'm glad it came out okay. http://www.vimeo.com/24680612
