That list doesn't tell much about the cars' safety - it's about the safety of cars and their drivers. Big difference.

It's hard to die in a car that's usually in the dealer's repair bay. :)

This is only DRIVER, and doesn't include passengers, or death of others. A more meaningful number to the general public, is how many people die in crashes involving X. I'm pretty sure there are more SUV related deaths, than say, small 4 cylinder pickup related deaths.

Looks like don't drive a Chevy or a Buick according to the article...no matter what type of vehicle they are bottom 1 or 2 practically every time.

Wonder what the Legacy is doing wrong...maybe drivers are passing out from patchouli fumes.

No surprise on the 350Z; skateboards have better brakes.

Article says that could be attributed to fleet duty. Look at the Dodge Grand Caravan at 63 vs the Chrysler Town & Country at 28. Same exact vehicle, vastly different numbers.

I didn't have the time to read everything, but appears to be junk science. A real measure would be deaths per miles driven.

I have an Armada, but it's interesting that the Titan rated so low. The Armada is based on the Titan, FWIW...

Not only that, but at the bottom are three different variants of Titan. My guesses are weight distribution of the vehicle, or the impact between the bed and the cab in an accident (or separation?). Or, are Titan drivers the riskiest drivers?

Well, seeing the way my wife drives the Armada (on 2 wheels half of the time), I'd venture the guess that many soccer moms driving them are up there on the risk scale :)

Ok - all kidding aside, I made a similar assumption - vehicle weight and/or structural integrity of the cab...tough to say, but an interesting dichotomy for sure.

Some interesting statistics there. The article also mentions traction control as a major deterrent to losing control. Ironically on Sunday night at my in-law's house I tried to explain why I would rather get an older BMW or Mercedes than a newer Hyundai for the same price because they have traction control and are typically built safer but it went right over their heads.

I think I've mentioned before that for some reason Nissan Titan seems to be my most surrendered vehicle in Ch7 bankruptcy cases. They are pretty expensive but so many construction workers had them - these 25-40yr old blue collar guys come in with this $800/mo Titan payment.

There are 2 Range rovers in the mix..

Range rover is one of few that put independent wheel braking in case of traction loss or out of control episodes...very potent option
