Someone came on AE last year or this year saying he was the driver in one of those cars, I forgot which one. I think he said he hadn't seen the picture before and was really amazed by it. He was trying to track down the original I think.
well he did have one with luggage but he can't drive.................moretti is 30 seconds quicker than phil
I was in the blue TR, Andrew Miedeckie was in the Pantera. Someone was chasing the photo for his Dad as I recall.
Bill Forsyth took the photo and reprints can be ordered from Tim at Perfect Prints in Hobart (on the net). You had to be there to appreciate what that photo represents.
That's right, I remember it now. He said his dad had a faded copy of it, but was looking for a new copy. Here's the thread - http://aussieexotics.com/forum/racing/90s-targa-tasmania-photography-4871.0.html
*Waving* Long story; but I was 60 seconds or so in front and overshot a turn. Turned the land yacht around and saw the Pantera coming down the hill towards me. It looked like a POS "barn find" , so I ducked out in front thinking that I didn't want to be held up on the one lane goat track that passed for a Tasmanian road. Turns out the POS Pantera was really a Group C underneath the ratty old exterior, and it was being driven by Andrew Miedeckie (who won the event outright the following year). He had a bunch of left over parts from his Group C racing car and fitted them to his Pantera. Big HP, Big Torque, Big brakes and BIG balls.............. Rather than wait for a safe passing opportunity, he decided to squeeze 2 cars onto a road barely wide enough for one, at some crazy speed. You can actually work out how close the cars are to each other by measuring the space between the tyres and the width of a letter on the number plate on the photo. Then measure the real plate (which sits on my desk)................... the cars are 1.5 inches apart
