Well - after spending $400 on a pair of new fogs, I was changing a bulb in my new 4x4 project and I could swear that the fog lights are the same - right down to the adjuster and the brand "valeo" (thought it looked familiar when I pulled the Ferarri ones out of the box...)

I am going to research it a little more -

    Interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised, there are only so many manufacturers out there.

Please do tell us what you find - this would be a great thing for the group. I know it would be great for me, after having replaced a couple of these in past years due to breakage

Yeah, come to think of it - I HAVE seen the Ford logo on a few parts of the car now.

No wonder it needs work all the time.

Yes, wish someone could identify a lower cost replacement, and/or come up with an inconspicuous way to better protect the lenses against breakage. I just broke another and am awaiting the replacment light from T Rutlands. My wife's 97 Jag XK8 has the same problem....can't just replace lenses, and we've lost 3 lights in that over the years. This will be the 3rd light in my 355.

Gus355, what did you find out about the ford fog lights? Mine are good now bit I've had them break on other cars throughout the years.
Some thick clear bra would help protect them.

I have 3M clear plastic on my fog lights. Part of the clear bra package.

    Griot's Garage has the film.
It is easy to use and works great.
I installed a set of Hella Fog lights on my Integra, and within two days the lens was broken.
After receiving a replacement, I installed Griot's Headlight Protective Film and they have been unbroken for 4 years. Still very transparent too.

I use this stuff too. Make a template and cut out the pattern. Apply with a soapy water solution so you can slide the piece around after you peel the backing off. Squeegee out the air bubbles. Use a heat gun if you need to shape the piece more. I have applied it to BMW and Ferrari lenses.

OK, so I loooked closer and while they are REALLY close, the back half of the housings are different, if someone has a broken light to send me, I would say if a few guys want to pitch in $5-$10 each, we can buy a Ranger foglight and I can try to install just the lens (should come off with oven or hot water method), it looks like it just might work and should come off with oven or hot water method.

If the lens fits, this is really cool since they have clear, blue and yellow lenses for the Ranger!

    Interesting experiment maybe?

What year Ranger has the similar fog light? The 2003 on out look incorrect...at least online.

My '01 looks like it has a very simlar lens - same manufacturer and even the design of the housing is the same although the tabs do not line up.

My $60,000 Infiniti has fog lights made by Valeo. I wouldn't say they are from a Ford Ranger, it's just a component supply company like Bosch or Gates.
