Hey guys I have a 2000 360 f1. Love the car and it's running really good. Last week when I was driving the car it had issues with shifting. It felt like it was hesitating I go into gear when I downshift. Having a loud exhaust makes it very noticeable its not the crisp loud quick roar that the car usually makes. Then the f1 light came in and the gear light was blinking. I stopped the car and restarted it an the light went away and drove it home and it was fine. What I realize is I don't hear the whining sound that the f1 pump usually makes. I only hear it when I first open the driver door. Does this mean I need a new pump? I just replaced the relay hoping that would fix it but it's still dies it now. I notice that it only happens when the car heats up to temp. Thanks

Allan, I think its your clutch, if you do a search in this section you'll find plenty of threads.

Lookup: 360, F1, Shift, temp ...etc and you'll find the info.

    Good luck.

does it drop out of gear into "N"?
It could be quite a few things but in summary:
    1. Poor system pressure. Caused by pump, loose screws on the actuator base or faulty actuator internal piston bore seal.

    2. Poor clutch set-up, or adjusted to cover up clutch/flywheel wear.

    3. Sticking slave seals, but usually accompanied by engine shut down and stuck in gear.

    4. Gear position sensor fault. Another common issue. Usually caused by seal failure within the actuator causing hot f1 fluid to leak into the baseplate, which results in a faulty reading.

    5. Clutch position sensor failure/poor connection at bellhousing/bent sensor arm or lost magnet.

    6. Lack of fluid...least likely as the gears work sometimes.

All of the above issues require someone with an SD2 who knows how the system works PROPERLY to fix it. Get it to a specialist or dealer and quit driving it with this issue.

yes the transmission will shift to n when the car is warmed up and the shifting is not as crisp as soon as it warms up. The car shifts fine when its cold which is really weird.

Just an idea check your coolant and make sure no gear oil in there. My F360 did same blinking thing and also went to neutral. Turns out it was the cooler failed and both liquids were exchanged and made F1 act funny. Take it in to your Indy shop and get it looked at and keep us posted.

My cooler failed on me 5k miles ago. And I took care of that issue already. Maybe I just need to flush one more time.

Ok good just throwing it out there since my cooler got replaced I haven't flushed it again so you can probably scratch it off the list. Like Rustybits said don't drive it...get it hauled or DIY with a trailer if you have a truck.
