Lol. Don't you think that would be a bit much? That would be reall cool though. Getting out of the car would be cool and something to the realism. But would it ever happen? I think not

so i guess this game is based in colorado. that's what i've been reading.. that's just awesome! we have every kind of landscape here, mountains, deserts, urban. just about everything. i can't wait to drive on some roads i've actually driven on before. i'm going to have such a fun time with this game!

I think keeping the game condensed to a Colorado based map will help with the overall quality of it as opposed to maxing it out with something like the massive open world of TDU2.

Forza 4 has quite a few cars in it that will be perfect for this but seemed a little out of place in Forza 4. The Suzuki Monster Sport SX4 would be a blast for a Pikes Peak hill climb. They have the Jeep Wrangler and a couple trucks that would be fun off road and several that would make perfect rally cars. All begging for some dirt but didn't have any place to shine in Forza 4.

Using the June car pack as an example, there are so many great cars in Forza 4 that would be perfect for Horizon and I really really hope they get it right :)

Colorado is a whole lot bigger than both maps of TDU2.

If they can pull this off I truly believe it will be my absolute favorite game. I've been dreaming for a game like this for years. If they can do a beautiful open world game, with great roads, environments, Forza physics and the full Forza car collection I will be in absolute heaven.

I think Forza physics are absolutely perfect for this game, they are just plain nice to drive and I think cruising down the highway would be really enjoyable. Plus Forza has a great collection of cars, unlike TDU2 where it was just super cars. Sometime I like to grab a normal sedan and cruise around town.

I continue to get into lightweight S class cars and shred Mt. Fuji so a game like this seems like a sure fire hit. The physics need to be identical to FM4 which I'm sure they will.

Either way, this is a preorder, hopefully with some bonus cars.

We should agree that there is a finite amount of information they can put into the game due to current limitations.

TDU2 used up a considerable amount of their finite space with a massive open world where you could drive all around Oahu and Ibiza.

My GUESS is Forza Horizon will BASE it's open world on Colorado but not map out the entire state in an exact replica. I do not believe they will include every street in Denver with all the buildings. I do not believe you will be able to drive from one end of the state line to the other.

My guess is they picked Colorado as a location and will use some land marks to make it familiar but will limit it to certain areas to make use of whatever driving challenges they implement into the game. A smaller map would allow room for better features and customization.

My statement wasn't about which state was bigger. It was about how much of an open world will they create to save some of the finite space for other features in the game.

Gotcha. Based on the limited screenshots my guess would be the major interstates will be pretty exact, major roads will be fairly accurate and they will get less and less accurate as the size of the roads go down. At least that's how I would do it if I was making a game like this.

That's the way I see it too. Have the interstates and mountain roads with some places to go off road just like they did in TDU2. Toss in some landmarks and some city driving so it can be recognized as being Colorado but don't go overboard and use up valuable disc space with mindless roads.

I'm all for cutting down on the size of the open world to allow for Forza 4 quality physics and car customizations. I'm sure they won't do any worse than TDU2 and I had a lot of fun with that game. The potential has me so excited I think I'm going to have to get me one of those fancy wheel setups :D

I really hope there's some rallying in this version, I felt the exact same way about the off-roaders in Forza 4. I'm dying to see what their gravel/dirt physics will be like.

    +1 for sure.
Just toss in a couple major interstates, nice mountain passes, off road rally stage and 4x4 routes, and some city driving to bring me back to reality as I live in flat Texas and mountain passes aren't availiable.
I'm looking forward to this game. It sounds like they have a great foundation to make a good game.

Yup that's be the best. I honestly have no idea why, but I love on ramps in this kind of game, I really don't have any idea as to why, but I love them in any open world game and it looks like I'll be really happy with the ones on here judging by the screens.

One thing I really hope they don't do that I bet they will, put stop lights at the beginning of the intersection. I hate whoever started doing this, go play TDU, TDU2, GTA, trying to think of some others, but the stop lights are at the white line when they should be across the intersection. If they are at the white line, YOU CANT SEE THEM while in car view, it's bugged me forever.

On ramps are so much fun for some reason.
Do you actually obey stoplights on a video game?

Depends, many times I do, at least in games like this. Some friend and I used to do realistic drives in TDU where we would obey most traffic laws, putting your foot down on a straight did not count as breaking the law :D.

One of the things I liked about TDU2 was the fact you could drive anywhere.

My sister and I would get on the top of a mountain in Ibiza and pick a landmark far off in the distance and then race to it. Her in the buggy and I'd drive my Stratos and it would be a blast to just drive though the country side. In Hawaii it was much harder because of the grass covered steep slopes but still fun. I really appreciated the fact you could jump the guardrail and keep going. I hope Horizon allows something similar.

I played TDU with a controller and wasn't able to complete everything. I play TDU2 with a wheel and finished everything. I also didn't have much game time back then ( 5 or 6 hours a week ) and just didn't get into TDU that much.

I liked the concept so when TDU2 came out I talked my brother and sister into getting it and we had fun cruising around. I'll also point out that I'm 54 and my brother and sister are in their early 60s :)

Being that old means I was there when the first Pong tables hit the bars and I would stand in a line seven deep just to get a chance to play. That experience gave me the appreciation for the games we now get to play. To play a game like TDU2 with it's massive open world and do it online while talking to my sister is pretty amazing.

I'm also the type of person that looks for the good in things and I don't whine about the bad. With that attitude I approach TDU2 and embrace it for what it is and not worry about what it could be or what I want it to be.

    I liked

Completing all the challenges and getting the cups.
I like getting houses and looking at my collection of cars in each of them.
I like just getting in a car and driving around and doing it with friends.
I liked the casino, mostly slots, and hit the big one early.
I liked having Hawaii and Ibiza and the difference between them.
I can't remember if they had wrecks in TDU but I found all of them in TDU2 and I did it without cheating :)
I liked that I could pop the game in and get an hour of fun play out of it.

    I wish

They had a more ways to make money after getting the cups beside grinding the speed challenge.
They had regular DLC like Forza 4 has.

Most of the time my connection with my brother and sister was good. Sure we dropped out a few times but it happens a lot in BLOPs too so its not a deal breaker for me. The other night my sister and I got the new DLC2. We got bikes and spent about two hours racing around and it was pure fun with no problems. We test drove all the new cars and I bought the F40. The sound stinks and it drives bad but I still had fun driving it around and looking at it from the chase cam. If I want a more realistic F40 I can pop in Forza 4. I just accept the TDU2 F40 because it is what it is and I'm not going to quit playing it just because its not as good as the one in Forza 4.

I've got many hours of play out of TDU2 and when I get tired of the same tracks in Forza 4 and the same maps in BLOPs I'm going to put TDU2 in and grind out enough money to get the 250 GTO and the 599XX and have me a fine Ferrari collection in my waterfall house and drool as I walk around them :D

For me the perfect driving game would be a mix of Forza and TDU2. I imagine having homes with road cars and being able to drive them in an open world. I'd also like race garages where you could tune and keep your races cars. Then use a truck or hauler and drive them to a track and race like you do in Forza. Car customization, online multiplayer and lots of DLC. It will take a next gen console for something like that but I've got my fingers crossed that Forza horizon will show us they are headed in the right direction.

Sorry to go off topic but you're 54 and play video games and are good at them and you play with your brother and sister who are in their 60s? Wow that's crazy and a new idea to me.
I used to enjoy just roaming the city in the free roam mode in NFS Carbon. Pure fun like you said.
Your ideal game sounds spot on. I hope it is like that but I doubt it will be but instead will incorporate some of those aspects.

I gave our ages because it helps to show why we have our perspective towards games and at the same time show age shouldn't be a barrier to playing video games. I can't tell you how much fun it is to watch my sister play Black Ops running around Nuketown wreaking havoc with a shotgun :D

Back on topic they just showed a Forza Horizon trailer at E3 ( I'm watching on SPIKE ) and it looked like a NFS type game to me but time will tell as more details emerge.

pretty interesting. I think it would be killer to mix Rockstar's GTA series with serious physics, and tremendous crash physics. (Not like the Burnout series...)

So if I understand the trailer correctly...it goes like this:

Yo dawg, I heard you like to race so we'll make you race to a race so you can race while you race!
