s/n 3603 as previously mentioned in this thread was on display at Goodwood Revival by GTO Engineering, ominously alongside a SWB replica based on a GTE (s/n taped off). A small highjack: does anyone know the s/n of the blue GTE pictured? UK reg 818 UXG. Taken during the Mille Miglia in 2005. Thanks. Peter Image Unavailable, Please Login
Definitely 2895 GT. I sold this car on behalf of Darren Jaffrey in about 2004 / 2005........I thought the buyer, although English, was taking it to Spain........ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Quote: "s/n 3603 as previously mentioned in this thread was on display at Goodwood Revival by GTO Engineering, ominously alongside a SWB replica based on a GTE (s/n taped off)." So, unless you were trying to hide something, why would you tape off a s/n? Ridiculous. George
Does anyone have an idea why 2895 has a later style dashboard and radio console which according to my estimate was entered in production in December 1961, 5 months after the car was built?
Did we mention 3603 GT? It is certainly worth discussing. The only thing I have on the car is a 2008 email to the Register saying: "Reported being converted into a 250 GT SWB replica by a small two-man shop in Italy. Both men are retired Scaglietti panel beaters who do one car a year. They do very nice work. This car has always been in Italy." Does anyone have anything else? Photos maybe?
I have no idea but heres a picture of the dash when I had the car........ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw the car in Sicily in 2006. I believe the UK owner was living in Italy. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anyone know where 4605 ended up? I sold it to an H. Pomp and he was brokering a deal for a gentleman in Germany back in 1987.
I have it with Dick Yoe of Los Angeles in 1985 and then being seen at the AVD Oldtimers GP in Germany in 1988, but that is all I have. Did you only have it for a year or so, or are my records incorrect? Tom Wilson The Ferrari 250 GTE Register & Newsletter Owner GTE 4247GT
I purchased the car in the early 80s from a gentleman in Belmont Shore(Long Beach) California. I sold it in 1987. It was an eventful few years as the GTE was raced at Riverside Raceway with the FOC, autocrossed and made at least two trips up Highway 1 to the Monterey Historics. The PO had restored the car and in the process, installed hotter cams, wider Borranis, re-jetted carbs, etc. It was a fantastic driving Ferrari. When I sold the car, it was in very good shape and was black with a burgandy interior. I still have a few extra Ferrari bits that I purchased with the car as well as the original ID plate(somewhere) that was removed for cleaning. The test drive sold me on the car, as the PO ripped through the streets of socal one afternoon in the car and I abandoned my plans to purchase a Corvette and instead, bought the old Ferrari. The PO was moving to Hawaii and couldn't bear the thought of the GTE rusting. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Kare I look into that when I owned it...never did quite get a good/plausible answer. If I remember correctly a few folks told me of a number of of "Transitional" cars that were bleedthroughs of Series 1 in to Series 2 and Series 2 into Series 3 sporting attributes of both. I never could prove it one way or the other. Could have been pure nonsense. So in the end i just enjoyed the car until I sold it via Paul B to finance my PF Coupe. One of my favorite photos of the car below.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Onno Yes and no...I sold it to buy a PF Coupe which I later sold to pay her school tuition fees ! She often asks me where the GTE is now (she remembers it as that "old blue car"). I ask her how her day at her very expensive school was ;-) Darren.
thats a GTE & a PF you should have kept........You are astute at buying at the right time but theres a lesson to be learned from the sales..........DONT sell the SL
At least six GTEs were imported to Venezuela, according to this list published at Cavallino # 95; any information on them? Image Unavailable, Please Login
