Hi all, In year 2000, the production of Ferrari was 4072, distributed like this: 1111 for USA/Canada 608 for Germany 462 for UK 418 for Italy 277 for Japan 231 for Switzerland 199 for France 105 for Belgium 84 for Spain 75 for Australia 10 for NZ Do not have other numbers, especially Holland is missing. For 1999 and a total of 3775 cars, I have these facts: 1003 for USA/Canada 620 for Germany 453 for UK ? for Italy 263 for Japan 219 for Switzerland ? for France 73 for Australia 56 for South Africa Based on these and a few other results, we can assume the following parts for the actual years: 1. USA/Canada with 28% of the production 2. Germany with 15% 3. UK with 11,5% 4. Italy with 11% 5. Japan with 6,7% 6. Switzerland with 5,75% Then France (probably including Monaco), Belgium, Holland, Spain, Australia, Austria, South Africa. Finally "minor" markets like Argentina, Persian Gulf countries, NZ, etc... without forgetting the increasing Russia and Chinese markets and the crazy Brunei Sultan's brother collection. Per capita, it is clear that Switzerland is the first one if we forget Monaco, which is a special case. There are probably more than 10'000 Ferrari in Switzerland. Bye Greg
There is more Ferrari in Monaco than any other country in the world if you make RATIO Population/Ferrari ...
Ferrari themselves say the highest per capita Ferrari concentration is Switzerland, maybe they consider Monaco as part of France (at least commercially).
I think that's Calfornia.... Monaco is rich but not so big.... for sure USA...not so many in Italy....
Pat, California's population is around 35 million people, i.e. 5x that of Switzerland. Let's imagine half of Ferrari sold to USA/Canada are sold to California, this makes around 550 cars, which is only 2,38x the number sold in Switzerland. Therefore a ratio Ferrari/population inferior to that of Switzerland. Ciao, Greg
NZ is well up there but no where near what the Swiss have . We have 3.9 million people and 386 Ferraris (there may be 1 or 2 I do not know of) Regards Andrew in NZ
if london, within the m25, was considered by itself, it would be right up there in the per capita race. its really unbelievable how many ferraris there are here. so much so that only the tourists raise an eyebrow when you roll along. the other day i was going past a big traffic queue (not uncommon), and i counted 4 ferraris in about 500 yards, not to mention the 996's, sl55's etcetc too many to count. on any given evening in the post work traffic nightmare, all you need to do is place yourself strategically at either the embankment, the mall, or cromwell road and you will see the entire product line (many times over) for the last 10 years - i even saw a macf1 one day.
Hello, It's obvious that the US is the biggest market and Switzerland has the best population/Ferrari ratio. But..., and I don't want to be patriotic or so, most people forgot Belgium in this discussion. I've read that last year there where about 5000 Ferrari's in Belgium, and that every year about 80 to 110 are sold new here by three official dealers (garage Francorchamps in Brussels is founded in 1952!). That's NOT a bad result for such a small country with 30,510 sq km and a population of about 10 milion, is it? In Greg's post you see Belgium in eight place, behind 7 MUCH bigger countries and in front of much bigger countries like Spain and Australia! Take a quick look at a map to compare Belgium with those countries! The Spa Ferrari Days at the circuit of Spa Francorchamps are also a good proof of this theory, a beautiful event with a lot of F-cars, both vintage and new. Hey Greg, Very intresting! Where did you get these figures? I've always wanted to know where all those beauties were shipped to.
First post..... not a ferrari owner but want to be in the future.. A note on Japan (I live there). There are many Ferraris brought in by independent dealers, most of whom source in Germany. How you'd get figures for this I don't know... But to me it seems these unofficial imports have an unusually high share of the market. Ed
Perth, Western Australia, now thats a surprise to most, has the most F ownership per capita in the world. Due to multitudes of mining rich people. By the way, new Ferraris here cost more than double what they cost elsewhere, taxes and import duties. And they hold their value better than anywhere else.
When I was a kid my Dad was in business in Vancouver and knew the "who's who" around town and it seemed like you knew who everyone was that owned a Ferrari. Nowadays in the city of money "Vancouver" when I go to the dealership it is like just going to a Toyota dealership. There are always customers there and they seem to be delivering new Ferrari's everytime time I am there. They are everywhere.
Your first post is to comment on a 9 year old thread!! Welcome to F Chat! I assume we will see more old threads being revived as you continue to catch up on what has been discussed here over the last millenium. Cheers!
I would bet not many people when this thread started in 2004 would have predicted China would be second in 2011! 2011 figures: USA and Canada 1,436 cars China, Taiwan and Hong Kong 542 cars Germany 503 cars Great Britain 384 cars
Huh? The original post (from 1903 or something like that in the past), was: Which country has the most F cars, not sales per year! (unless I've completely misunderstood the original post!). Now according to: http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/ They are quoting 8,134 Ferrari's on the road and 1,464 declared as being off the road (SORN) (And that's based on just 24 models! - I'm assuming that 308's, 328's 355's. Mondial's etc., are included in the "Missing" section )
Interim data for new 2015 Ferrari registrations:- USA - 2124 Japan - 720 Germany - 638 Switzerland - 352 Italy - 249 Canada - 216 Australia - 167 South Africa - 91 Belgium - 81 Spain - 75 Sweden - 63 Czech Republic - 60 Singapore - 41 Luxembourg - 35 Holland - 30 Poland - 28 New Zealand - 19 Portugal - 19 Austria - 18 Turkey - 10 Denmark - 3 Norway - 1
Negative. I do not have the final December 2015 data as yet. French registrations January - November 2015 - 189.
Looks like Switzerland is the place to be! :-D 4.4 new registrations per 100k inhabitants whereas "just" 0.7 per 100k in the USA.
I was just teasing you...189 or even "about 200" when the figures for the whole year will be known is not much compared to "the old days" when 300-330 was the norm... Thanks Rgds
Luxembourg does even better, with 35 for 563.000 inhabitants, compared to 352 for 8.211.000 for Switzerland.... Rgds
Data from China is hard to come by free. There are Pay / Subscription sites with updated data that I am not a member of, hence I wait for data to filter through the net. Data I have to date:- China / Hong Kong / Taiwan: January - October 2015 - 462 Hong Kong only: January - September 2015 - 74
