Greetings I have been Commissioner of a season-long fantasy F1 league for a couple of years; it was founded by some friends of mine a while back. Some of you here have been playing in past years. Participants have to choose 5 drivers, a chassis and an engine while staying within a tight budget, and points are determined by the accomplishments of those components. Last season we began a Ferrarichat-specific league, and had a great time. Lena Technologia and GNU F1 Gold ended up splitting the Constructor and Drivers' Championships. See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/357710-2012-f1-fantasy-racing-*spoilers*.html If you are interested in playing, please check out the website at IFGP F1 Home Page 2013 driver/chassis costs have not yet been revealed -- they will be later this week. So please ignore the 2012 costs still in the ruleset. For more information, please contact me via PM, via email at IFGPF1 (at) gmail.com
If Tillman doesn't mind, this will be our official fantasy league with prizes continuing the 10+ year tradition on FerrariChat.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; From the Green Triangle, somewhere in Northern CA, 27th February 2013. Team Almost Green is delighted to announce it's return for another season in the FChat Fantasy league. "we were mired in the mid-field all last season" began team principal Fast_ian. "We simply gambled (wrongly!) on the pace of the boys from Woking early on and were never able to dig ourselves out of that hole". He continued, "this year we firmly believe the status quo will be restored and those newbie teams such as the admirably monikered "Naked Tatas" and "Ambitious But Rubbish" will feel the full force of our experience. Testing thus far hasn't really revealed much, and we've decided to kick back (in our bean bag chairs) and study the time sheets until after the final test prior to picking our team". "Given the number of self appointed "experts" here we continue to find it a little disappointing that so few are prepared to step up to the plate and compete in this truly international competition" was his conclusion. ENDS. Cheers, Ian
Hi gang! The official rules and schedule is up on the website now. Rules here: http://www.ifgpf1.com/wik/index.php?title=2013_Rules Schedule here: http://www.ifgpf1.com/wik/index.php?title=2013_Schedule_and_Results A note on the schedule: F1's official site is still showing a TBA between the German and Hungarian race, so it's on our official schedule. I haven't actually heard of any confirmation of a race on that weekend, so keep that in mind when figuring out how much travel money you will have come the second-half sponsorship purchase. The first race is the weekend of March 17. Rollout week will start on Monday March 11, so make sure you have your teams to me (and approved!) via email before that date. As always, rollout will be in reverse finishing order. Any questions, please feel free to contact me. If you know someone who wants to play, please pass along this information. Thanks, Your friendly neighborhood commish -Tillman
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 28th February 2013. IFGP WMSC announces costs for 2013 season After surprisingly little debate, the IFGP WMSC has confirmed purchase costs and rules for the upcoming season. The full ruleset and fine print is here; 2013 Rules - Wiki However, a few points of note for any newbies [and indeed, sophomores ] that wish to enter the series; - Sponsorship costs $10MM for the full season, $6MM (renewable at the same price by the mid point). From the rules; - Any new teams wishing to enter *must* contact the IFGP commissioner by the dates specified above, and preferably sooner as entries are strictly limited. - Anyone is free to "build" a team herein. However, it is strongly recommended that entrants keep their picks "secret" (apart from mailing them to the commissioner) until after "launch week". Without further ado; So, unless you have/are expecting to get an official entry go ahead and post your choices here!....... Cheers, Ian
AP, Luckenbach TX. Scuderia Modificata prepares for 2013 campaign The wind is whipping up a bit of dust around the Dance Hall/Race Shop across the way, as Team Principle Tillman kicks back in a rocking chair on the General Store porch. "It's been a while since we finished on top," Tillman mentioned. "But overall we've been pretty competitive. We hope to return to our championship form that we've enjoyed in the past." The Scuderia Modificata cars, resplendent in red, white, blue and black livery, sit covered under the oak trees. A couple of mechanics are starting to load the shipping crates that will support the team on its long road trip. "It's difficult to run a remote operation for so long, but we are happy to see more races on this side of the planet. I don't believe NJ will ever happen, but if it does that's another weekend that won't involve international charters. That's good news for us." The team started strong last season, but ran into problems near mid-season. "We had some unexpected sponsorship issues that limited our ability to compete in the later part of the season. Once you start to lose visibility, the problems only compound. At a certain point, we decided to hold back on development and focus on 2013. Fortunately, that decision has placed us in a good position for this season, and we expect to come out of the gate well." The team will announce it's final lineup shortly. Melbourne , Aus Announcing "Team Numero uno" !! After languishing at the bottom last year, and with the exit of the greatest F1 driver there ever was, it has been decided to rechristen our old team "Achtung Schumi" to "Team Numero Uno" with immediate effect. Team principal Vagabond believes that the name shows intent and will go a long way in putting our car on podium. Team entry has been finalized and sent to the commissioner for approvals and will be revealed in due course. We have a new sponsor in Allen's ball...sorry Nuts. We have managed a few cans of stealth paint which should give our cars an advantage in certain situations. "Now only if our car and drivers would deliver", sighed the team principal, to this journalist. We will have to wait and see.
Hi Gang! The 2013 cost calculator is up. Enjoy playing with your team lineup. http://www.ifgpf1.com/tools/qk2013.html If you find an error, please let me know ASAP! Thanks Tillman
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE; From the Green Triangle, somewhere in Northern CA, March 8th 2013. It is with great pleasure that Team Almost Green announces it's return to the IFGP championship. "As the junior team we've decided to take a high risk, hopefully high reward approach this season" began team principal Fast_Ian. "We're obviously delighted that the Hemp Industries Association have decided to stay with us for another season; Their loyalty & enthusiasm for the task ahead allows us to concentrate. Most of the time anyway." He concluded, "we were a little conservative last term and were never able to escape the midfield. This time we believe we'll be right at the front from day one. Or we'll suck the big one!" Full details of the lineup will of course be announced in due course. ENDS
Ok folks, If you want to play, pick your team and email it to me at [email protected] You can join even if you didn't play last season. Let's see your F1 analysis skills!

For immediate release from Tata Technologies Due to sagging economic times in the sub $3000 car market, Tata Technologie's Racing Division, including the Naked Juice sponsored Tata F1 team, has been liquidated.
From Team Almost Green, 11th March. Terrible news! "It's always sad to lose a team, but the uniquely monikered "Naked Tatas" were a great addition to the lineup. We recall them looking perky on the podium quite a few times last season. Sagging fortunes and drooping results can hit any of us, but we were under the impression that your new car, the 42DD, was coming along nicely. However, we understand that the Naked Tatas purchased engine R&D for this coming season. This is a big lift and certainly gives the team value to any potential new owner. In line with Bernie's rules, any new owner should keep the name (who would want to change it anway ) in order to make use of the up to $5MM off engine purchase for this year. Obviously, any new owner would need the approval of the IFGP WMSC, but we see this as an opportunity for a new entrant that's maybe been put off by the lack of "cheap" engines. ENDS So, come on guys; A way in! [Subject to approval of course]
For Immediate Release from a secret icecream testing facility somewhere in the Nordics From the ashes of the recently disbanded Naked Tatas F1 Team comes a new team. Bigger and better developed but with less lame titty jokes! Team Massive Implications has arrived with massive implications to the championship! With our generous sponsor, Magnum Icecream, keeping our primary driver very committed, we have great expectations for the upcoming season!
Launch Week 2013! The Ferrarichat League enters its second year. Last season there was a split Driver's and Constructor's championship. Will this year create the first unified Champion? We begin by welcoming Cigarette Racing Team Cigarette Racing is joining the competition for the first time in 2013. Given the FIA's complete ban on any type of smokeable materials, we presume that the team is sponsored by the maker of very fast boats The team is betting that Hamilton will take his winning ways with him to Mercedes. Good luck CRT! Engine: Mercedes AMG Chassis: Lotus Lewis Hamilton Nico Rosberg Sergio Perez Adrian Sutil Felipe Massa Half Season Sponsorship We also welcome Bawal Umihi Ditto We're not quite sure what to make of the moniker, but we're certain the story will come out in time. The team is betting that Lewis Hamilton is right when he says Ferrari is the team to beat this year. Bawal Umihi Ditto is purchasing a full season sponsorship to make certain they're competitive throughout the season. Engine: Mercedes AMG Chassis: Ferrari Fernando Alonso Nico Rosberg Sergio Perez Adrian Sutil Jules Bianchi Full Season Sponsorship We also welcome HAARP F1 Racing Team Another new competitor, this team is hoping that the lower cost components will be unexpected bargains in 2013. Engine: Lotus Chassis: McLaren Sebastian Vettel Jenson Button Sergio Perez Esteban Gutierrez Giedo Van Der Garde Half Season Sponsorship We also welcome Big Winner Racing FC Big Winner has been competing in the Founders' League, and is joining the fray on the Ferrarichat side. * Engine: Lotus * Chassis: Ferrari * Fernando Alonso * Lewis Hamilton * Sergio Perez * Adrian Sutil * Valtteri Bottas Welcome back Horner's Hornets FC The Double H team is a long-time competitor in the Founder's League and competed in the Fchat league in 2012. Unfortunately a series of trades that didn't quite work out left the team just short of sponsorship cash for the second half. Rather than chase the 2012 season, the team leadership made the rational choice to save the cash for the 2013 R&D. They enter 2013 with high hopes and a new lineup. Engine: Red Bull Chassis: Lotus Sebastian Vettel Jenson Button Mark Webber Paul di Resta Max Chilton Half Season Sponsorship Welcome back Team GerBaro Team GerBaro bet heavily on Schumacher and Mercedes in 2012, and like most Mercedes AMG fans was sorely disappointed in the result. However, hope springs eternal in Brackley, and Team GerBaro is back with an all-Mercedes AMG lineup. Here's hoping Hamilton is a better fit than Michael was! Engine: Mercedes AMG Chassis: Mercedes AMG Lewis Hamilton Nico Rosberg Sebastian Vettel Romain Grosjean Valtteri Bottas Half Season Sponsorship
Ice World March 11, 2013: shaky GP FC announces its entry into the second season of the iFGP Ferrarichat League. Team Name: shaky GP FC Country: Canada Team Principal: shaky The team will remain based alongside its Founders league team mates in their frozen central Alberta shop for 2013 while the new shop is being constructed. Last season was a development yr for Shaky GP FC. We had a smaller budget than our Founders league team and so worked with some of the mid field equipment and drivers. The results sucked but it was a fun season. We will be taking a more aggressive approach this season with a bigger budget and are determined to move way up the field. Shaky GP is pleased to welcome new sponsors Lotto Max for the 2013 season.
Beginners luck brought us the drivers championship in 2012 and we are hoping for a good showing this year. Breaking out the trusty Dart board we have selected our team line up and submitted it to the IFGP Commissioner for the 2013 F1 Season. After setting up the team we even had some change left over to buy you all a Fantasy F1 Fosters in Australia next week! So here is to a great season and good luck to all the teams in 2013! Lame jokes are sometimes the best..... Anyway, if Team Almost Green weren't the laid back outfit we are but rather the buttoned down outfit out of say, Woking, a protest may have been made! Two possibilities; - "Bringing the sport into disrepute" - "False" press releases must be covered by that one! - An unapproved name change!..... The WMSC wants to instill "history" into the championship, and willy-nilly name changes doesn't enhance that goal. An argument could (but won't by us at least!) be made that $5MM in R&D should be forfeited...... Cheers, Ian
I may have to go back to the old name, I can't seem to remember the new one. I guess since Naked was just a sponsor, I could keep the Tatas part and just change it to "Massive Tatas". Would that be better? Now leave me alone and I will see you on the podium (Or from the podium )
What about reducing the cost of naked juice and give them second position making for Massive Nak... Well you get the Idea, and I think that would be podium worthy itself!
*Good* question I can almost feel a NSFW poll; 1. "Naked tatas" or 2. "Massive tatas" Which do you prefer?............ Cheers, Ian
Welcome Team Rumblefish A new addition to the grid, Team Rumblefish is betting heavily on the Red Bulls to continue their winning ways. Engine: Red Bull Chassis: Red Bull Sebastian Vettel Sergio Perez Paul di Resta Charles Pic Giedo Van Der Garde Half Season Sponsorship Welcome back Shaky GP FC Hailing out of the Frozen North, where team drivers like ice cream, Shaky GP is looking to improve on a promising first season. The team grabbed the podium twice in 2012. "We will be taking a more aggressive approach this season with a bigger budget and are determined to move way up the field, stated a team spokesman. Engine: Red Bull Chassis: Lotus Sebastian Vettel Kimi Raikkonen Sergio Perez Esteban Gutierrez Jean Eric Vergne Half Season Sponsorship Welcome back Hollywood GP Hollywood GP made a valiant effort in 2012, but was hobbled by the performance -- or lack thereof -- of the Mercedes AMG unit. Hope springs eternal, though, because the team is sticking with the same chassis/engine combination this season. Hopefully Hamilton will drag the Mercedes up the grid, and Hollywood GP with them. Engine: Red Bull Chassis: Mercedes AMG Sebastian Vettel Lewis Hamilton Sergio Perez Nico Rosberg Max Chilton Half Season Sponsorship Welcome back Team Almost Green "We're obviously delighted that the Hemp Industries Association have decided to stay with us for another season; Their loyalty & enthusiasm for the task ahead allows us to concentrate. Most of the time anyway," said the team spokesman. The team has decided on a boom-or-bust strategy this season. Either they will do very well, or the Green may just vanish in a puff of smoke. . .
