Just got my car back from Ferrari of Orange County, with the Annual Service, they had to replace the Exhaust Manifolds, and added the Skid Pads. I have to say out of any dealership I have ever dealt with, their service is just fantastic.

Is there a trick to get them to replace both when only one is actually shot?

Also, what damage could be caused from this not being fixed in time?

    Thx

Cat breaks and gets sucked into your engine, then no more engine.

they automatically replace both when one is cracked. they are replaced with an updated version, which is different from your original ones.

Perfectly stated, I don't notice a different in sound yet, which is something I was a bit concerned with.

Mine is in the shop right now with one of them
Broken. Dealer made it sound like they were planning on only replacing one. They also have had the car for over a week 'waiting for approval from Ferrari on warranty'. Mine is an 07 spider that actually already had the headers replaced once earlier by the previous owner due to early failure.

I took mine to FofOC and they said mine didn't need to be replaced and wouldn't replace them without a visual 'defect'. Argh. I wish Ferrari would just replace them rather than having me 'break them in' until they 'appear defective'.

I could swear I heard a difference. I think it sounds better, but it's a subtle difference. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I'm sure happy to have the MK2's.

Got a call from the dealer today. Both headers were replaced under warranty! :)

I asked... I wanted the car louder and they said the sound should be exactly the same.

I replace my headers to aftermarket. (the very famous made in Taiwan company). it's very loud when RPM is on 6,500 onward. I would call the sound to be unpleasant noise. The sweet sound is between 3,000 -6,000 RPM.

I really do believe it's a better sound, not much louder, but more guttural, more growl.

    Hello,

Is this issue for F430 only, or also with Scuderia? And is it only a problem for 2005 and 2006 MY (i.e., better parts used in 2007 - 2009 MY)?

    TIA,

    DL

Yes, Scud doesn't have silly cats stuffed into headers doing their best to choke performance and generally rot the headers from the inside out!

Just to kind of revive this older thread, my '05 430 is 7.5 yrs old and when I had it in to Ferrari of Silicon Valley last week for an inspection they told me the manifolds were leaking and should be replaced, but they were not under warranty. They said the applicable warranty is 7 yrs not 8 (maybe referring to CA state emissions warranty?) Anyway just had a short conversation with the service manager and will be pursuing this next week, but wonder if anyone on FChat has had them replaced under warranty when over 7 yrs old.

And yet all I can find on FChat is multiple references to 8 year warranty. Lots of confusion.
