He likes to play the country lawyer to endear himself...but that guy's brilliant. He's the top Austin attorney for that kind of thing for good reason.
The Hotel Driskill called me with availability, I am crashing there. Got two Tickets for Turn 15 high up.
A) Does anyone have or can point me to an actual seat map with seat/row numbers on it? B) How high up do I want to be in order to see turn 12-turn 15? C) do the seats in turn 15 have seat backs? cup holders? folding seats? D) Are both sections of turn 15 the same type of seats? In other words are the large section of turn 15 and the smaller section the same? Thanks
In order: A) I, too, have looked for such a map, but it doesn't seem to exist. B) I would say as high as you can get. For Moto GP, I sat in Turn 15, Section 2, Row 28, and had a great view (that was in the short section). I could see most of the track from Turn 3 to Turn 11, and then of course, the straight leading up to Turn 12. For F1, some of that view will be blocked by a temporary grandstand at Turn 13, but it should still be great. C) Yes, Yes, and Yes. D) Yes.
My Yacht Club? In the August edition of Forza there is a one page ad for the "My Yacht Club" party in Austin during the GP weekend. Looks very posh. Does anybody know what their address is downtown? I see they have a supercar display and I'd love to see that.
They were there last year; real high rollers.... The Ultimate Austin F1 Grand Prix VIP Experience and Party
Yeah, I get that at 50k a table (Jause! Makes Bernie's VIP Paddock Club look cheap.). I'm wondering where they will be in Austin. Then again the website states they are custom building the place, so might not be known yet.
So what's the latest on GA tickets? Should I go through the main website, or keep waiting it out for a better deal than face? I haven't kept up with these threads, too busy lately, but I realized I better get on the ball now that we're 3 months out.
I went with a scalper as I didn't want the 3 day pass deal. It remains to be seen whether I'll get my ticket in time.
By that you mean, arrive in austin with cash money and hope. I don't disagree with this strategy, just wanted to clarify? That's what I typically do with Nascar, football games, etc. Never been stuck outside.
No, that would be plan B. Plan A is I paid money to a scalper site which will (hopefully) send me the ticket to my hotel on time. I'm guessing they bought 3 day packages and split them up. So they first need to get the tix from Austin. I just totally hate 3 day passes.
Well a canoe is the biggest thing you can put in Town Lake downtown, Lake Travis is big enough for a Cigarette, I suppose, but there are not many.....
I made a lot of goodwill ripping them up and giving them away.......poor college students, my fireman host....random street people.
Looks like last year they were at the Ballet Austin building: Amber Lounge, My Yacht Club part of Austin F1 nightlife | Formula Austin | www.statesman.com Typically these "pop up" clubs are usually put in existing facilities, such out-of-service warehouses, empty storefronts, or big event spaces. These sorts of clubs are very popular during SXSW. Sometimes they spend quite a lot of money to completely build their own custom experience within the existing space for only 1 week. I suppose that's not unlike the F1 paddock club itself, which I understand is largely moved in and out for each race.
Thanks all for the answers. I don't really care about the party itself (don't have 50k burning a hole in my pocket) but the ad in Forza showed that they have exotic cars parking outside the venue. That's what I'm after. I guess I'll just have to walk through downtown Austin on Saturday evening keeping my eyes peeled.
