While watching this most excellent video I noticed this Dino whistling like my car. Does your's whistle and if so, what causes that? I love it, but is it suppose to do that or does it have a vacume leak? Fun drive in a Ferrari Dino (HD) - YouTube
If you have the stock exhaust, its the tips causing it. It can be fixed by rolling some stainless steel and inserting into the tips.
My 83 QV had a VW bug exhaust whistle when I first got it. I fixed it completely and simply with a bit of rolled stainless steel sheet metal. See this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/403053-dreaded-308-exhaust-whistle.html There are other sources of whistle however.
A lot of different answers on this one. I guess it depends upon the whistle. My '79 Carb (it also has the older more aggressive cams like a Dino) does along with other sweet noises.
My '84 GTS Qv also whistles......my mechanic says it comes from the very loud Bell Sports exhaust system that was fitted in the UK (the car was imported from the UK to Australia)........because the exhaust is so loud, the whistle is pretty loud too but it only happens between 3000-4500rpm. very slight whistle here. 2V injected. Could be the K&N or I thought I heard once that the K-jet sometimes generates a whistling sound.
I thought my car had some issues hearing the whistle (screech at high RPM's). Glad to know it may be a welcome and normal sound!
Yes this is what I think it is, I removed the air injection tubes, installed plugs and have no whistle.
The whistle is not annoying to me, I kinda like it. It's the chirp that's bugs me. I'm either going to do the stainless steel thing or epoxy the holes in the exhaust tips.
