Good morning and a Happy New Year. Sabine Kehm, Schumacher´s manager, just said some words to the international press. Condition hasn´t changed during the night, still critical, but kind of stable. Still too early to talk about anything further.
Aside from the generally spurious white noise messages about whether skiing is good or bad, there hasn't been a Schuey update for 24 hours. No news is good news! Come on Schuey!!! Happy New Year!
Thanks for the update. Happy New Year to all. Keep on fighting Michael. You were always and still are a winner.
No one attending to him has used either of those words. He is still in critical condition, but not in stable critical condition ---- 2 very different things I am afraid. And, although they did comment that his condition following the second surgery was "slightly better", that is not as positive as "better". For example, if someone has a lacerated artery (e.g., femoral) in their leg and is bleeding profusely, then a tourniquet is applied to their upper leg, the bleeding will be greatly reduced ---- which is a "slightly better" albeit temporary situation --- but a long way off from permanently stopping the bleeding and creating a "better" situation. Forgive me as I am not trying to push negativity on the situation here --- just wanting to keep the information as accurate possible as it is filtered to us through the media. Nothing to be gained by falsely overstating the situation either on the positive or the negative side.
Please don't mix thing up. He is still in very critical condition, but on the way to a constant stable condition.
The fact we are in the third day bodes well. Sending best thoughts for medical/surgical team to continue with their wisdom and to Michael and family for strength.
If things remain as they are, they can take him out of coma within the next 24-48 hours to test for neuro stuff (which I understand is to check for any serious brain damage or not?).
+1 As I read it, basically what they are saying today that his vital signs and condition are no longer fluctuating to the same degree as they were (which is a normal, early part of the recovery process). Whilst this is another small piece of good news - It's a long way off him being in a stable condition! We need to be prepared for quite a few days of no real news about his condition over the next week or so - It's basically a waiting game for the time being!
It is. Every day now is a sign of hope. Not out of the woods yet but in another twenty four hours he'll have passed a big hurdle.
Whilst she is not attending to him, Sabine Kehm did describe his condition over last night and this morning as being stable, still critical, but stable. (BBC News - Michael Schumacher 'stable' in hospital after ski fall ). Prior to making this statement, I'm sure she would have spoken to his Doctors to get a general update of his condition. All the word "stable" means in this statements context is that his condition has settled down, as in it is not fluctuating as much as it had been - It is not intended to indicate that he is out of any danger or give anyone any false hope! (hence her emphasising: "......stable, still critical, but stable". I would have to suspect that Sabine Kehm has access to far more information that the press do as she is one of the sources that they are relying on. Added to that, it would not be in her interest, or the Schumacher families interest, to put out incorrect statements. I would say the fact that his condition is no longer fluctuating as much as it was, is a good sign!
