BTW on a slightly different topic ... was there any difference in top speed between the barchetta/coupe or spider version of either P3 or P4?

Curious to know whether the roof and rear window actually translated to real life differences giving that these cars were not designed in a wind tunnel.

    Correct.
I was referring to when they were raced in the 60's. I am guessing that 0848 having been converted from a P3 which had 8 slits just kept them and 0850 and 0854 having been built as 412P's from the start had 7. I beleive that is also why sometimes 0848 is referred to as a P3/412P and the others as just 412P's.

0844 was also a 330 P3 that was converted to a 412P (before becoming a 330 Can Am and then back to 412P) which had 7 slits as a 412P.

Yes, I forgot all about the #26 Daytona car. It also looked nice as the #25 when at LM67. That is interesting. It was Can Am'ed in '67 for Bridgehampton first and stayed that way for Mosport. Then I have seen pics of the car in a dark blue paint scheme but I don't know the race or year. Its now restored to a 412P? Thats too bad as that was also a essentially untouched factory Ferrari made car as they turned that into the Can Am from the factory like the one in this thread.

Here is a pic of the blue Can Am body.

So is the body on 0850 today all new? I was under the assumption that its original body was badly damaged in shipping or transit....then it became a streetable spyder for a decade or so then rebodied (using the spyder body or not?) as coupe.

"0900" is a pure replica. Your "3 built" and showing photos of 0856/0858 and "0900" is misleading. You should include 0860 not 0900.

I feel I have to ask repeatedly !

This car is one of the most evocative
and charismatic cars ever built by Ferrari,
and one of the most coveted.

Since there are so few of them, knowing
the owners (and protectors, and conservators, etc)
is important to the Ferrari World.

With this beautiful car displayed at RETROMOBILE 2014,
with "The Transporter," it is obvious that SOMEONE, has
done a LOT of research, spent a lot of time and money
to produce this display for us to see - mostly at no cost to us !

Whoever it is, deserves a lot of credit, and yes, maybe adulation
for having the dedication and (dare I say it...) the
financial "throw weight" to bring all this together.

YES, I want to know MORE about this person !

    1) Does he have other Ferrari cars ?

    2) Is he a member here ?

    3) Does he show his cars ?

    4) How can I thank him for what he has done for us ?

    Get a grip, my friends........

    Scott

Honestly, it isn't an appropriate question. If the owner wants to be known, then those who know on Fchat would probably comment. If the owner doesn't want to be known, that's his or her right and we should respect that and not try to pry into every nook and cranny to find out who it is.
