I think quite the opposite... 001 is more like a true race car that's been tracked, beat up and rebuilt time after time. 002 and 003 on the other hand, have led considerably more privileged lives.

As to horsepower I'm not sure, but I recall 003 had an upgrade of a couple hundred horsepower, but I could be mistaken since it's been a long time. Also I would imagine that all three cars could be similarly refitted.

If I had to choose I would probably take 002 since it was one of the original cars with one owner and I'd imagine Mr. Okamoto has taken very good care of it. 003 is also appealing being the last car assembled, but it has a longer history.

See, I guess my life is just so much easier, as I never have to put so much thought into what I'm going to drive. For me it's just a question of 4 wheels or 2 wheels, and even that's pretty much pre-determined by what I'm doing & what the weather is like.

    For me:
    1:Enzo (for pure aural pleasure)
    2:288 GTO (for aesthetic beauty)
    3: F50 (for driving ability)
    4: F40 (for scare factor)
5: LaFerrari (for city use - lower emissions)
6: P4/5 (never interested me, some of the design details to my eye are not great).

    In rank of preference:

    1) LaFerrari: The ultimate in performance and technology.
    2) Enzo: The venerable outgoing speed king.
    3) F50: The unadulterated analogue experience.
    4) F40: The raw appeal of a gone era.
    5) 288: The forefather of the genre.

Since the 4/5 is not an official Ferrari, I cannot comment or rank it.

To me the F40 is the King and the rest are either the Predecessor or the Descendants.

They might have made more of the F40, but I say there still is only one King.

And its good to be The King.

    5. LaFerrari (yet to see one, let alone experience one, so can't judge it until i do, but may slot anywhere above)

P4/5 - I respect it for what it is, and the effort put in to building it, but i really do not like these modern copies of classics. I find they all lack any real creativity and in design term i find it lazy. They give me the same feeling that i get when i hear classic songs by bands like the Beatles, Led Zep, Pink Floyd etc, being covered by talentless pop singers and talent show contestants.

Is it an official Ferrari model or is it a rebodied Enzo, done by Pininfarina?

Have you done a search on this? It's all in Jim's P4/5 thread. It is an officially badged Ferrari - even though everyone knows it started life as an Enzo.

Still not an actual Ferrari model in my book. It is a car based on a Ferrari but not designed and built in-house.

Well, you are free to think what ever you want, but you will not hold the view that history holds. The car wears official Ferrari badging, sanctioned by the factory and can be serviced at any Ferrari dealership. It wears Pininfarina bodywork, yes, but so did virtually every Ferrari of the modern era up to that time. I think of it as a recent Ferrari historical anomaly because the way it came to be an official Ferrari was not by design and is very unlikely to happen again. It will always be an interesting and unique part of the official Ferrari story.

F50 ticks all the boxes. I don't care if it's the lowest power, rattiest one to ever roll around a parking lot, crashed and rebuilt 20 times.

A Ferrari, past the days of the coach builders at least, is built in Maranello and is engineered by Ferrari technicians. Pininfarina used to design all the Ferraris but in the end they had to get Maranelo's green light. Luca liked the car and allowed it to be badged as a Ferrari. It was not a Ferrari effort though, nor a production model. The donour car is a Ferrari and it is a one off commissioned by an enthusiast and built my Pininfarina. If you come to think of it, Jim calls it the "P4/5 by Pininfarina" and not the "Ferrari P4/5". ;)

It's definitely a Ferrari, an Enzo, no less, but it's been turned into a Fiero.

Granted it's the nicest, most well executed kit car that's ever been done.

For me (since I'll never have any of these cars anyway):

    1. F50
    2. LaFerrari
    3. 288 GTO
    4. F40
    5. Enzo
    6. P4/5

Though, to me, 3 and 4 are basically interchangeable. Quite content with either. :)

You really need to check your facts. It is officially called the 'Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina'. Any idea why Ferrari would let that happen, would let the car be badged as an official Ferrari and would let it's dealers officially look after it, not as an Enzo, but as Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina? No? Didn't think so...
