I've had the same 355 spider color combo for the last 8 years ( though i have sinned and modified the car a little). Enjoy it they are fantastic cars. a friend has just posted a video of my car at a recent charity event. ? BEAUTIFULLY MODIFIED FERRARI F355 F1 SPIDER - WALKAROUND, EXHAUST SOUNDS, ONBOARD'S + MORE! ? - YouTube cheers. Craig.
Fantastic video! In Sweden we are not allowed to track an open car and I also noted all the safety gear you wear....not. LOL Bertil
I know he's got a capristo, but it sounds like test pipes too? Sounds so awesome.... I wonder if the 458 seats were a direct bolt on ( as the seat move forward during the top cycle). They look great in the car - wow.
You have beautifully eliminated the wheel well gaps. Did you use sport springs or lower the stock springs? Do you get any rubbing?
This was a "Charity" event not a track day - 15 cars on the track at one time - 3 laps - strict overtaking rules, if you don't behave you get sent home! Running for 8 years - no issues. members of the public pay for rides in the cars (under 16 have to wear a crash helmet) - all monies raised go to Children's charity. TheSupercarEvent.com - Home - You should consider registering for next years event with the organizers and drive over to the UK - we can have an international division on the TopGear UK track . 160 cars* participated this year over the weekend, we even had Chris Evans (UK TV personality) with his new 3 day old Laferrari (I put together a video of the Laferrari at the event) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LLo84SKEdo *Ferraris , Lambos, MC-4 , Caterhams, Porsche, X-Bows, GTR, Lexus LFA, 458 Speciale, GT3RS, Zonda, + Classics - E Types - Bentley Blowers. Note: Track days in the UK - open top cars no problem, however full helmets required. If you have the roof down - you have to have the windows up Craig.
So clean I don't even want to drive it!! Damn it!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes to the Capristo, but No Test pipes it has 200 cell sport cats on there. All the headers, Y-pipe and cats were Ceramic coated by Zirotec, this made a a huge difference to the sound. The 458 Carbon race (manual) seats with the 3 point harnesses took a lot of work. 1) Aerospace fittings welded into the car frame for the seats and 'FIA' approved plates welded into the firewall for the harnesses. 2) The handbrake + engine lid release was transferred into a custom carbon fibre housing. The 458 seats are wider. The passenger side seat there is enough space to play with - but on the drivers side the original leather housing had to go for a more slim-line version). 3) Since i have F1 gearbox the ECU cover is larger than the manual car. I had to put a small gap (neat) in the leather cover to get the harness connected to the firewall anchors. 4) Tonneau Cover had to have two small holes cut into it, to allow the harness to reach the anchor points. Note: the Harness selected was a OHP - 3 point harness with a push clip on the top anchor point - so the tonneau cover can be removed easily. 5) The roof emergency power switch is now used to power the hood up and down. The original buttons don't work but I will get around to adding in a new harness to make everything neat and functioning again (Reversible of course - no cut or 'butchered' wires). Ive even thought about adding the roof power controls onto a wireless key fob remote. It was designed so it is totally reversible ( the carpets will cover up the new anchor points and the original fittings have all been retained) should i ever want to go back to the original electric spider seats. Even though the seats are now manual and putting the roof up and down is more complex now - it only adds 60 seconds to the procedure once you get used to it. Was it worth it, hell yeah - definitely! All the clever stuff was done with the support of the guys at Autofficina (Surrey,UK). Craig.
Hey Bob. I did move, to Boonton twp, about ten min from the townhouse. 3.5 acres in the woods with the bears, turkeys, deer, fox, etc. Still have the 355, don't drive it much but still love it! Hope all is well.
