What a scoop for Bonhams, RM and Gooding must be kicking themselves. There's surely a good chance this will almost double the NART Spider and maybe even the Fangio Mercedes. Maybe?! Does anyone remember the last time a GTO was offered publicly at auction?
3851 GT was involved in fatal accident in Paris early 60's. Owned by Violati since 1965. Last GTO at auction was Patrick Ma's at Bonhams Gstaad December 2000. Now owned by Chip Connor. Marcel Massini
Interesting. By some very rough calculations I figure in good old US 100's that is about half the cars weight in currency.
This will be interesting. Probably a seminal moment in auction history. I think it will be just under 65 million US.
