Just shows how short sighted they are. Double points is designed to maintain interest throughout the entire season.
If it skews the results and alienates fans who then don't tune in next year?

    They'll dream up another gimmick.

+2 (or 4, or wherever we are now!.... Haven't heard a solitary soul suggest this is a good idea.)

I actually hope one of them is ahead by 51+ by the time they get there. Personally, I'd like it to be Nico, but doesn't really matter as long as the craziness doesn't impact the outcome.

Much egg on a few faces if they have to hand out the WDC title at the previous race!

    Cheers,
    Ian

I know, its sickening. No doubt all the hamilton haters will stay rub it in how Hamilton was destroyed by Rosberg even if that happened.

Scary thing is that even if one them goes in with a 13 point lead and comes 2nd to the other coming 1st they will loose the championship. Too much is riding on the last race.

For Nico to be ahead by 51 points Lewis would have to DNF three more times

Only 2 more times lol. Because when lewis dnfs there's no one else around to win the race. You're assuming in your example that nico would finish second in all the races. Which is usually the case but then he retires nico gets the win so it's only 2 more

I Hope Nico takes it...Lewis talks **** trough his ears, and he's a proven cheater, unlike Nico.....i still laugh myself when i hear the "something got into my eye story" at Monaco....that one was worthy of Mansell!!...and of course, one british dictator gave him an f.1 title by allowing a fixed race to count as a real one!!!But i guess it´s all fine if you like empty cups....

Igor, this sounds as though you believe Seb and Mark were equally talented drivers; that would be a very poor joke.

Huge tragedy? Huh? No, IMHO real tragedy is something much more serious.

That said, double points may be the most thoughtless and downright stupid rules change they've ever made. Why then doesn't the FIA go back and recalculate all drivers' championships since 1950 where the runner-up won the last race and would have been WDC had he gotten double points?

Thats the reason why i really don't care when i miss one or a couple of races...it´s all stupid and artificial..DRS? wtf is that supose to be? you heve the best drivers in the world and they can´t pass each other without some sort of advantage? give me a brak, it's all too stupid be truth...i somethimes believe this is all a bad dream, and one of this days i'll wake up and all this artificial crap will be gone, bernie will be dead or in jail, will have real racetracks again, Alonso will be driving for some crappy team like mclaren and Ferrari will be winning races with guys like (Hulk, Bianchi, Kimi)....

I meant as in having the same psycological factor of knowing the other is already in the team's future plans

The nature of the championship this year (Merc are far superior to every other team) truly makes it a coin flip influenced heavily by attrition. There really is no clear favorite and it's easy to foresee a myriad of ways either driver can win.

Before the first race, I'd imagine Ham would have been a comfortable favorite. That was before we all could see how superior the car advantage is. When Ham dnf'd in Australia, people were able to foresee how Nico could realistically win the WDC.
