So annoying - I feel the pain as I've gone through similar things myself. It's amazing how little respect some people have for other people's things - even when it's their job! Sounds like you have a good attitude about it and will be enjoying it very soon!
thats not uncommon, I had a friend bring a QV in the country 20 years ago and they pushed so hard on the front bonnet they kinked it...

So...is this an Aussie or JP/Singapore market car? RHD but not a euro, or is it...motor swap? Come on...I know you guys know the answer... Ciao! Hannibal
A couple of give away hints 1. It mentions: "Cette 308 a été livré neuve en Australie" Roughly: "This 308 was delivered new to Australia" 2. No firing order plaque on the airbox inlet. I believe this is unique to the Australian models. 3. Square aluminium Australian compliance plate riveted to the left hand side of the engine bay just ahead of the "AGIP" plate. 4. Single air pump. It does have the incorrect mirrors however for an Australian car. It should have a single chrome mirror. This car has been offered for sale on and off in the USA for as long as I can recall, which is about 18 years. Can't remember the chassis number. Anyone know?
Not roughly...exactly...word for word. I just never read the advert! Great run down on the Aussie-unique findings. Thank you! Ciao!
The text of the Add does not say exactly how the car ended in France, where it seems to be located today, but says that "the car was delivered new in Australia, then imported to the U.K where it has two different owners, then spent more than twelve years in an United States Museum; the car will be overhauled before delivery" (BTW, the french text of the add is a bit strange here in so far as it includes a big chunk of a grammar error: "elle à eut" instead of "elle a eu" - shocking! well, to me at least...) Rgds
Yes, rather strange to me Peter; which, by the way, does not mean I doubt it... But according to the add, the warranty book says only 5452 kms in 1991, which is about 3500 miles only during the fourteen first years of her life; and today the odometer says only 12.000 kms, or about 7.500 miles. I'll see if I can find something on the net about the seller...I'll revert back should this be the case. Rgds
Jean Lain Vintage - Spécialiste du véhicule de collection - Cox - Karmann - Targa - Prosche - NSUJean Lain Vintage There she is; in Voglans, Savoie (at the foot of the french Alps). Rgds
Looks nice in the pictures at least. From what I can tell, you'd want to do the sodium filled exhaust valves, fit the correct rear indicator lenses and single correct chrome mirror on the drivers side for it to be marketable in Australia at least. Interesting how one would substantiate the mileage. Without any records, it's a tough order.
So does this mean all the Australian Vetro cars were wet sump as this one is, and had quad exhausts? Also interesting to see reversing lights in the bumper but indicator lenses with reversing lights in as well?
I sent them a PM asking for some info, notably the chassis number; I'll post it here should they reply indeed (which I doubt...) Rgds
Thanks for that, Carl. I wonder if they would give any info about its former life: owners, etc...and how it so happens that the car is with them today? Rgds
