Do you have the picture of 599 exhaust configuration and the by pass pipe you are talking about. Please kindly post the picture of Primary and Secondary catalytic converter. As my understanding if we just replace the primary engine light will not light up, how about if replacing secondary, will the engine light up?

How is the configuration on GTO, will it be the same? Thanks

You can see in my diagrams below. The first one is of a 599 GTB. The RED sections are the primary cats, these are monitored. If you remove them, you will get a CEL. Note, there is one in each header, and 4 in total.

The YELLOW cats are the Secondary catalytic converters. These are NON monitored by the O2 Sensors and you can completely remove them with no risk of a CEL. Our bypass pipes (pictured below) would completely eliminate those secondary cats (part #22).

You can also see in the diagram below, that the 599 GTO exhaust is COMPLETELY different. Instead of using SIX cats like the 599 GTB (two primary cats per bank and one secondary cat per bank). The 599 GTO uses a single header per side, with only one (likely larger) cat per bank. Ferrari completely deleted the secondary cat (just like Fabspeed) and totally redesigned the header, which is why you get such a distinctive sound from the GTO.

GTO DIAGRAM - RED is Primary Cats; YELLOW is 2nd Catbypass

Would the car still pass California smog without the secondary cats?
I've removed the secondaries on many cars I've owned in the past, but am not familiar with the emissions on the 599 and would hate having to swap the cats back in every 2 years.

Would absolutely love a before and after video!

I see absolutely no reason that it would not. The car would not have a CEL and it would have FOUR 600-800 cell cats left.

Here is a little video of my 599 GTB after installing the Fabspeed secondary cat delete pipes. No hitting the throttle hard here but you get the idea of how much of an improvement it makes.

Thank you so much Evan for your diagrams and explanations, so meaning that for GTO the straight pipe has been deleted? Appreciate your information.

It certainly sounds much more vicious and less synthetic.

Yes, the GTO had the secondary cats eliminated. It also has a completely different header and cat setup from the GTB.

Yes, it is very similar to the 599 GTB.

MY apologies guys. I didn't realize my video had uploaded as Private. I've corrected that now so you should be able to view it. Please let me know if there are any difficulties gettting it to play.

Here is the link again. I didn't hit it hard but did get the RPMs up to about 4K. I'll try to get additional footage of higher revs when I get the chance. It really did wake up the engine however. We ran my car on a Dyno before and after the installation as well. It picked up 34HP at the wheels. I think it was well work making the mod and it could be reversed if necessary in about an hour. Enjoy!

    hi,
A question about your bypass: does it make the car louder on the motorway at say 100 mph?
I now have the valves open on the standard exhaust which gives it a bit better sound but would love a more aggressive sound when going for it. However I want to keep the quiet motorway cruise level.
Is there a switchable bypass maybe?

Could you install the GTO or GTO style headers on a GTB and get the GTO sound?

Can anyone advise on the sound of the Fabspeed bypass pipe with the factory HGTE exhaust?
Did not want it much louder, would not disconnect the rear valves.
Does that keep the sound close to stock HGTE level if valves are left in stock operation?
    Thanks,
    John
