Wife and I watched this on Sunday & I pretty much concur with your synopsis. Not a "great" movie, but a pretty good one. We both enjoyed it quite a bit. My wife had additional entertainment when she visited the ladies room on the way out. The 3 elderly women who had been seated behind us were discussing things. Elderly woman #1: "That is the most intense movie I've ever seen!" Elderly woman #2: "I'm sure glad I took my heart pill before we came!"
Just watched Capt. America 2 tonight. Very entertaining. I like the more hand to hand combat in this vs all the usual super hero effects. Although it has plenty of that too. If you like action movies, this is a pretty good one.
World's Greatest Dad - Since the passing of Robin Williams I thought I'd honor his memory with this film labeled as a comedy by Netflix. It had a few funny moments but was more depressing than anything, found out it was a Bobcat Goldthwait film which would explain a lot of the cynicism & darkness of this film.
The latest X-men. "Performed" as expected. Love, survival, war, hope - the same formula they have used before. Nothing extraordinary though (IMHO). 7/10.
Noah. Much better than I expected, all star cast was really good. Russell Crow over-the-top yet convincing as a psycho Noah not found in the Bible.
Mission Impossible 2. The worst ever MI movie. Just a movie with Tom Cruise removing a mask a few times.
Lucy - I've wanting to see this film before it gets pulled from the theaters. It was ok a sci-fi thriller I really think it could have been better. 5/10
Diana It came out when we were in London and critics hated it. Never made it to the US so I finally got it on Netflix. Totally loved it.
Guardians of the Galaxy. Try to watch it in IMAX 3D if you can...very well done in terms of 3D effects that would be best appreciated in that format (some of the best 3D and quality of image overall in any IMAX 3D movie I've seen). Awesome storyline as well. And of course the case with all Marvel movies, wait til the end of the credits for the extra scene.
Expendables 3. I'd give it an average. Opens up for future expendables too as well. Guardians of the galaxy. Not my cup of tea. But excellent acting by Chris Pratt and superb songs collection, .
300: Rise of an Empire. While it lacks the punch of the original I thought it had some memorable moments in its own right. I like that it is basically taking place at the same time as the Spartan's stand in 300. Another story of the same invasion. The naval battle scenes were very well done, and you can't ever get too much Eva Green. She was an excellent villian. Story is predictable but enjoyable. Solid B- to B grade for me.
Moon (2009). Very entertaining, although slow at times (I think it's the style of a lot of sci-fi movies). I thought it was original too. You should watch it if you like sci-fi, it scores an 8.0/10 on IMDB's user rating average and that's on par with the best. 8/10
Guardians of the Galaxy - A lot better than what I was expecting, never read the comic or even knew much about some of these characters. A very likable & fun film.
DIVERGENT Suggested only if there is nothing else to see. "conforms to today's alt-world teen-film formula."
It's a trilogy at least so no hurry since you can easily wait for the next one to come out, then watch the first just beforehand. That's really cool and will probably give you a different perspective. Didn't help me though with Transformers Dark of the Moon. I was an extra (both of my scenes were completely cut), but the movie still sucked. lol
