Factory and/or dealer messed up my F12 order. What should i do?

    That would drive me insane over time. Probably cause an accident cause i couldn't take my eye off it, lol...

    In 2008 or 2009 Ferrari was having a carbon fiber supply problem so anyone that ordered carbon options were getting their cars with the standard parts and when the carbon was available they would ship the parts to the dealer to swap over. It is possible that the factory was out of parts and just built it with the standard parts and will then deal with the problem later at the dealer.

    Tupps, not sure what you have decided - but for an F12 I would seriously consider letting this one go and getting a new car ordered as you had originally wanted it; with tinting being the second option.

    To my mind much would depend on whether you are seeing this car as a keeper, or a "see how it goes, maybe get a ...., later".

    Got a call from the dealer this morning. The factory responded last night saying that they will replace the glass before shipping the car out to the dealer. They assured me that it will be done right. Although the car will not go back onto the V12 assembly line, it will head to their tailor made division to get this done. I'm expecting an email from them tomorrow that will highlight what/how they will replace the glass. I know they use robotic installation for the windshields cause I saw it on NatGeo (Megafactories), lol. As far as the side and rear windows though, I think it's done by hand anyway (assumption), so I'm considering letting them redo it with the privacy glass I ordered.

    What do you guys think?

    +1...at the dealer's expense. BUT, you're not me. If it bothers you then refuse the vehicle. Don't worry about it. They'll easily sell it.

    Edit: I didn't see the last post. That sounds fine. You still are within your rights not to accept it. Bear in mind that this and vehicle damage occur pre delivery more than you think and is factory repaired none the wiser.

    The tailor made division should be the one for the custom stuff so they should do a perfect job.

    So i got both the email and the call yesterday from the dealer that its a 2 day job, to be done at the factory. They assured me it would be done right, and that the car is still booked on the same ship initially planned for delivery.

    To be honest and fair, they did right by me on this. Im a little anxious though. Retrofitting parts sounds scary to me. I hope they do the job well.

    On another note, I'm curious if anyone knows how these parts are installed when on the normal assembly line. I saw a NatGeo documentary that only shows the front windshield install. The rear window is possibly the same automated process. I can't imagine the small side windows are installed by robots though.

    In any case, the factory went through a pretty extensive upgrade for automated production last few years. I think they used to do all glass installation by hand during the pre-California era (F430's, 599's, etc.). Thats the only thing that gives me peace of mind. The fact that its the way they have always done it before...right?

    I dont know but I would really not worry at this point. They will do it right. If your car was finished and someone accidentally damaged your windshield there, they would just replace it and your car would be delivered new and you'd never know. I think this will be just fine.
