Heyo FC, its been a long time since I've posted. I'm a software designer and it just hit me that I my job and I also happen to love F1 So Here I am wondering if I might be able to bring the two loves together. What software is used in F1? (by use I mean, tools the engineering team uses, as well as any other cool behind the scenes stuff that is used) or Who makes some of the software used in F1? Thanks guys, I know this is broad, however any insight would be fantastic.

Most teams use CATIA for design. From memory Red Bull, Williams and Marussia use NX. MATLAB is a common one as well. A lot of other stuff is created in house, usually in C. Although there are also programs coded in VB to help with common repetitive task so that time can be used more efficiently. On the FEA side abacus, patran/abacus are the common ones. For CFD Fluent, Star CCM+ and a few others that I'm blanking on. As all cars run the SECU they use ATLAS from McLaren for data analysis with a litany of custom tools per team built on top.
Yep. Here it is; TAG-320 | Electronics | McLaren Applied Technologies and here's the "new" (big) display most of them are using; PCU-8D | Electronics | McLaren Applied Technologies They're actually pretty well documented on the site - If you're into that kind of stuff..... Cheers, Ian
