    Darn.
    I guess I won't be buying a 355 for $100 now.
Glad it was a relatively easy fix, as most fixes on these cars are.

That, or I'm not as good forecasting gloom and doom as I need to be! :)

    Eric,
Very glad you managed to catch it in time. (Machinery does talk to you - if you're willing to listen.) Was the problem the hose itself, or an attachment issue?

It was the hose itself. The edge of the clamp had sliced into the hose. That little 7mm clamp was a pain to get to. Would have been a lot easier if I had removed the powering steering reservoir, but I didn't want another mess to clean up.

Here is the hose that split. It looks like a simple swap, but the power steering reservoir and fuel lines were right in the way.

Very common. Those hoses go regularly. I use Daves hose for those 2 on every car through the shop. Nothing else survives there.

I think he is talking about hoses from Dave Helm's Scuderia Rampante.

Just a heads up for anyone looking for the actual adapter for the pressure tester. I haven't been able to find one. Snap-On doesn't even seem to make one. But they do make one for Lamborghini and others. So, making a setup like Eric_C did may be the only option. If anyone knows who makes the adapter, I would like to know.

speaking of block and leaking coolant.....does a 355 block have soft plugs? BTW this thread is hilarious except for Erics leaking coolant hope its an inexpensive fix.

I had it fixed within 2 hours. I had some spare coolant hose that I was able to use, so it ended up being a free fix.

I was just back under the hood & found the same problem hose. It seems the clamp was loose & looks like it cut into the hose.

However, I happened to cut the hose in two. I noticed the inner diameter is *way* smaller than the nipple connection ends. Is this normal? I'd expect some expansion as the hose had to situate over the nipple. But this much?

Yes, even more than that to the point of almost closing up. Way past its prime, shall we agree?
