Dear friends, in my own archive, I discovered a photo of 0334MM. I made this photo in Zolder 1983. Leo Tillmanns Image Unavailable, Please Login
The original exterior color was two-tone burgundy with white roof. Between November 1955 and June 1956 the car was repainted metallic gold with a black roof. The original owner was not from Bern. It was Eugen Lanz of Lanz Timberyard Co. in Rohrbach (near Huttwil, Berne), Switzerland. Lanz had previously owned 0221 EL and got 0334 MM in July 1953. Marcel Massini
Looking at the easy to read prior owner list, it seems like it was hidden for 8 years between 1966 (owner Scheck) and Schmucki in '74. Was Schmucki the barn finder who found it and rescued it? Did he buy it at a bargain price? I think Ferrari prices were just starting to wake up around the early '70s Overall a comment on styling. The kickup atop the rear fender seems way too Austin Healeyish but the top has a certain rakishness.
That list is incorrect and not complete at all. There were several additional owners in between 1966 and 1974. No barn find here. Marcel Massini
Dear Marcel, I recently discovered an unknown image of 0334. The picture is probably made in the eighties when the car was owned by Jan Smits. Leo Tillmanns Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you compare the first image of 0334MM with Lanz/Sagesser and two years later the image with Dr. Hopf, you can see that the original grill surround is replaced by the big chrome surround. And in 1997 on the Modena track days, you see the car restored by Meissner with the smaller grill surround, but not in duo tone color. Last year I have written a letter to the Monteverdi museum. The person who responded the letter said that Peter Monteverdi had an accident with this car during a hillclimb. Could that be the reason for the repaint in gold ? M.M. has a feature about Peter Monteverdi and on page 30 there is a short discussion of his ownership of 0334MM There is no mention of a crash but the picture of this car with plate BL 69 at full chat clearly shows the new front. After the breakdown in Paris Monteverdi went to Maranello for parts to repair the car. I suppose it is possible the front end change was done at the same time but this is only a guess. Also while there Monteverdi negotiated a Ferrari dealership for himself in Switzerland. tongascrew
Another interesting picture of 0334MM. Who is the person on this picture ? is it Dr. Hopf ? Leo Image Unavailable, Please Login
