The cobra did not sell at 4.7. Ron paid 5.5 for it. I think he is taking a loss on quite a few cars. The future liner he broke even, but gave that money away to the soldiers, awesome guy.

I was hoping BJ would list what RP paid for each car so we could "see" the spread (reserve). I did note bid to 4.7M, yet did not realize there was a reserve w/c was not lifted (getting pizza out of oven for kids!). Thanks ps. RP seems to be doing well with the subsequent sales?

Ah yeah looks nicer than the other one for not much more. Think this one works out at just under $270k all in.

What's the auction record for a Testarossa BTW - I mean ever?

Not really relevant to real world mileage cars ofc but along with some other results of 10k+ miles cars it definitely shows the Testarossa craze coming back to life 25 years later!

Funny though how it seems to be at a time when some of the other classic supercars are showing a bit of a fall back. Does the Testarossa always have to buck the trend lol?

Okay, so why are all of those 5-600k Dinos gone now? They are what? Yeah, that's right A memory. See any Dinos in the 400k plus range anymore? That's right, NOPE. They have already slid to the 3's and will be in the low 200s in no time. Don't believe me? Look for yourself. And what difference does it make what I'm willing to wager? I offered a fun gentleman bet, which to you is not a significant sum. So why not agree to the wager? It is all in good fun. The bubble on that car has already popped.

Looks like a pretty solid market to me! ..... Euro and UK markets , nothing much available on the open market , for under £280-300k ($c.500k) at the moment ..... but if my friend is correct, then i will be the first of many in line to buy another 246 ..... or maybe a 288 GTO, as that will probably be under £500k, if his logic holds fast!! :)

Yeh how are those dino numbers a bubble bursting? seems pretty solid to me. there are f40s that sell for 600k and f40s that sell for 1.6m. a bubble popping is prices going from peak to down 80 in a short period of time.

Keep in mind 288 GTO's sold for around the $900,000 mark in the early 1990's....Daytona Spyders...same. Things rise, pull back, rise, pull back. The DOW was 2900. Friends were snatching up triplexes on the Strand in Hermosa/Manhattan Beach for $650-$7o0,000. Beef, chicken, fish, eggs are hitting record prices while milk and oil hit the skids. Cycles come and go.

Many factors in action today...strong dollar (for now), cheap money, Ferrari mania. aging boomers. Love your Ferrari for what it is....your membership card to an exclusive club of passionate car lovers. If you think it is a sure path to big bucks, you are sure to be disappointed.

Jag, Well put - the "cheap money" factor by far gives the flexibility to leverage assets (ie real estate and investments) to buy toys with little to no financial impact (get to drive for free).

Normally I stay out of these discussions but this was pretty funny. Did you even look at the comps you provided?
The 206 from Canepa was sold long-long ago, and before the current price hike, previous owner is an fchatter.

And another one of your comps ---- the Dino at Continental in Hinsdale --- is not really a good one either as I have seen and inspected that car in person -- there is a reason it is priced at 339k after having been dragged out of a barn where it was sitting for 20 years or so!

Too many people on Fchat don't understand that the difference between top quality cars and the low end can be a couple of hundred k! Then depending upon which point they are trying to make, (i.e. whether the market is going up or down) they throw out a comp to support their view on where values are headed.

And how did we get off topic from TR values to discussing Dino's! Seems like we should move the last ten or so posts over to the Dino section!!

Agreed. There is a wide margin between car's values based on their quality. It takes 2+ years to fully restore a vintage Ferrari and if one wants top dollar the usual suspects must be used that will stand out in the bio. That route costs a lot! That's why a well restored car by the best known and respected shops usually break the bank. No waiting, you get a cream puff to enjoy. Instant gratification costs.

BTW the cool colored Dino you spoke about also had a good amount of damage at one time. Nice looking car tho...

What did any of the TR's sell for at the auction this weekend? I'm in Barbados and just got internet back so I missed everything. Now that's real world numbers and should get us back on topic.
