Bob- There were very few options available in 1997. The Scaglietti options came out in the 97-98 timeframe.

Is that what has historically kept 1997 values down? I asked the question when I bought and was told that there was little difference in the years...as long as the service upgrades had been done. Apparently, I did not get the very best advice....

Tell us more about the "Scaglietti options" please. I can probably guess what they are, but good to get the complete scoop for each production year.

as far as I know, the only "scagliietti" options available on the 550 were:

Daytona seats with contrast piping and inserts
    Quilted rear leather deck
    Quilted leather headliner
Two tone leather interior door cards, dash, wheel, etc
    Painted calipers
    Fender sheilds

My 2000 has all of these and my understanding is that it's fully optioned. I would be intersted if that is fact or if I'm missing something.

Taz? Can you fact check the above?

Dean- I have the list for the 575M, but not for the 550. See the 575 Technical Thread for a copy of the 575M Scaglietti dealer brochure. I just know they became available in the late CY97/98 timeframe. Including, but not limited to: Daytona seats, carbon fiber trim, racing seats, roll bar, 4 point harness (last two not in US), colored brake calipers, Fiorano Handling Package, leather rear shelf (quilted along with headliner), color for dashboard and steering wheel, color stitching, shields, luggage, maybe HI-Fi with extra speakers. Sure I missed some. Have never heard of two tone door panels except for CF trim. Does not mean they were not an option, just never heard of them. Barchetta wheels became available in 2000/2001.

You COULD have a 550. I'll trade ya...my 550 and my Pantera for your Lusso and your Cobra. Seems fair. ;-)

Actually, I have the 550 parked uncovered next to my daily driver just so I can look at it. Slumbering peacefully on it's new battery tender...

2 tone meaning black - grigio leather door panels & dash - instrument panel as seen here. Many I see are monochromatic.

Dean- I see what you mean. Black stripes on the Daytona seats, too, which was a separate option. Dash and instrument panel colors were different on standard 575Ms, black dash and same color instrument panel as seats and door panels. Same color dash as seats was an option, as it was for the steering wheel. Besides red stitching, FHP and fire extinguisher (forgot to mention that one), mine had no other options except dash and steering wheel in color.

    Taz,

I'd love to see my original sticker when the car was built. Unfortunately I don't have. I think I read somewhere on here the process for obtaining a copy?

Dean- The original selling dealer can sometimes print a copy, but that is going back a long time for a 550.

I am back in the Ferrari market after years sitting on the sidelines. Looking for a nice 550M. I have seen a few online, but not very many. Prices vary from the $50k to the $100K, a few above $100K. What is the right price to pay for a low miles 550 with a clean history?

What you are willing to pay and what the seller is willing to take....which probably starts in the middle of the range you suggest....
