Ferrari 308, 328 and 348: The Complete Story: Robert Foskett: 9781847978851: Amazon.com: Books Haven't seen a copy as yet, though a few appear on eBay already. Anyone sighted one? Hope it discusses values!
This has been coming for a while. I provided a photo of a 308GT4/LM that a friend took at the RM Auction in Monaco a few years ago (with my skinny legs in the background). I'll be buying a copy just to see if that photo has been used.
No value discussions unfortunately A nice book, but nothing new to learn. And in one caption of a rear view pic of a steel carb 308, one could get the impression, that on the steel cars a 4-pipe exhaust was factory standard. I hope this doesn't get a new huge discussion. Andy; There's just one picture of the GT4 LM on the track with a Porsche 911 behind. Best Regards Martin P.S.: Carl; You should purge your PM- folder
Damn. I'll have to ask my boss if I can have my job back. My vision of regular big, fat royalty cheques has been crushed.
Discuss the value of the book or cars? The other 308/328/348/288/F40 book has gone up in value faster than the 308/328's. Maybe it's time to invest in this one?
Hi Martin, just glanced through the book and also spotted this mistaken caption. In a table about the carb'd 308 GTB it says regarding the engine: "... 90-degree V8, dry-sump (later cars wet-sump)". Hmmmmm, so Martin and Alberto: with your ultra-late cars you will have to have the engines exchanged, in order to be 'original' I assume we will not learn anything new from this book, but it's a nice picture collection (of mainly british RHD cars). And of course it is difficult to publish a book covering various models, without making some minor mistakes. Somewhere else in the 308 GTB chapter the author declares that the chassis number plate on the steering column was only used for the US and Australian cars in the beginning, and was introduced only in 1978 for all markets. I actually thought that ALL 308 GTBs have this plaque, from the start of the production. It is mentioned that later cars (we are still talking about carb'd 308 GTBs) had a rear view mirror, which was adjustable from inside the cabin. Never heard about that. Maybe when you open the window? Any thoughts? Regards, Robert
The photos attributed to Pawel Skrzypczynski are of my 328. I can see one in the preview on page 12, hopefully there are more in the 328 section. Polish plated rosso corsa on nero.
I'm curious to know how this looks on a Kindle app for iPad. A big part of the appeal of this book is the photography. But if the Kindle version is just text then a hard copy is more appealing.
This would have been much better as a coffee table book than a reference history/reference book. I might have purchased that.
Just received my copy and on first glance through very impressed! Great quality hardback and easy reading. It's obviously not meant to be a detailed technical resource, just a good overview of these wonderful cars. The UK Vetro pictured is looking particularly good of course.......
We had a thread on this book when it first shipped from Amazon and many details have been observed to be just plain old wrong. Recently found error is the picture of the QV engine compartment. The picture is actually a highly modified engine with EFI and the throttle body rotated 90 with the throttle cable running across the the top of the plenum, a unique solution to providing room for the fuel rail.
