Oh I know. But they also mentioned that if or when battery prices go down and they become lighter, they might end up doing another lesser model hybird. And considering that both Mac and porsche are doing hybirds, it would be rather strange if ferrari didn't do it, especially if major european cities are planning on having emissions free zones. And if they do go hybrid, we can only hope that they ditch the turbos altogether and go NA. Because oddly enough, the 918 actually has less c02 than the P1. 918:72g/km P1:194g/km An affordable LaFerrari? Hybrid technology considered for Ferrari 458 successor
Thanks but I was asking about those of us with 458's (coupes, spiders or Speciale/Apeciale A) if there was a way we could get 50 more hp out of our engines. I looked at it from a problem solving angle. 488 has more hp but not the NA sound and some turbo lag? So possible solution might be to get 50 more hp out of the 458 engine that has no turbo lag and a great NA sound...that can be enhanced with OEM exhaust systems. What started me thinking was a post by one of the sponsors for a 25 hp boost from tuning. Maybe some more hp boost from exhaust change? Could couple that with some weight saving from exhaust swap etc. Just some thoughts. Be far less expensive than switching models, I would think.
Just back from Geneva and the 488 really is very nice "in the flesh". However for me I will wait for its replacement. Two reasons: 1. I just got my Speciale 2 weeks ago 2. Not enough of a difference from the 458 look For those who did not have a 458/speciale etc - go for it as it really is a great looking car.
Any word on whether carbon fiber engine manifold, e.g., replacing the red engine head with carbon will be available? I notice it's not on the gray 488 that's been shown.
As far as I am informed the grey car has the optional carbon fibre engine compartment. Unfortunately I havn't ask my dealer, if the engine head is available with carbon too, but I presume it isn't. We have to wait until Ferrari publishes the list with all extras.
Thanks for the reply. Presume that because why though? There's probably 3-4 different carbon engine options alone on the 458. If I had to guess, I'd guess they wouldn't spec a demo car with the carbon manifold, since the red engine is so popular. But that alone may not mean it won't be available. If there's more concrete info available though I'd be interested to know.
I presume it because the grey car has every cf option available so far, such as front spoiler lip, side skirt and so on. But of course it's possible that there are even more cf parts to order. I keep you informed as soon as I've more information.

Got a feeling I'm going to love this when I see it in the flesh... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gd_UDJqsoU
I , and I am sure I am not alone, would like a more evolved/different body style. I have nothing against the 488 with the exception of (from pictures) both the front (looks like a gaping mouth) and side vents (maybe necessary but clearly not an aesthetic upgrade imo). I don't see an aesthetic improvement over the 458 even trying hard. I always like buying "new", but am hesitant given my enjoyment driving the 458. The lack of "newness" plus the turbo, gives me pause. On the other hand, who knows, I have done worse on impulse, so try not to blast me if you see a 488 in my garage. I have yet to see another marque that elicits the visceral pleasure experienced driving the little horsey. Best
The LaFerrari, 918 and P1 thread is extraordinarily entertaining, there should be a new thread 675LT vs 488 vs ??. My guess it will become the next great debate. BTW, on paper the 675LT outperforms the 488 GTB in almost every category and I might go as far as say emotion as well. Turbo vs a Turbo, let the fur fly and pass the popcorn MB
Ok, fair enough, make it the 675LT vs. Speciale vs. 991 GT3 RS - all limited production track focused cars. But don't whine about the Speciale being slower than the 488 GTB. The Speciale is .5 seconds slower around Fiorano with Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires. M "aint no troll" B
The Speciale will be out of production before the first 675s meet their owners. The normal production Macca is the 650S, just like the 488 GTB.
I don't know about that, you will start to see 675 LT customer cars in June/July, so there will be some overlap with the Speciale, but I get your point. But I don't think the car journalist and writers will see it that way, there will be head to head match ups between the three brands, Mclaren, Ferrari and Porsche and very likely 488GTB vs. 458 vs. Special, just like 650S vs 675 and GT3 vs GT3 RS. If they want to sell magazines, write blogs and post Youtube videos, it's unavoidable. This is a great period in automobile ownership to have so many special cars to choose from, I just hope the car companies don't get in the way of what could be epic shoot outs. MB
Wow! Gorgeous. If you hate it, you're either a complainer that hates everything or have no history of automobiles. This is a classic shape that will last decades just like the 458 and unlike the 360/430.
