Miss read the above post with pics. However I'd still say that there is another mass produced vehicle with that switch. Ferrari also used this one... 61-31-1-363-459
my antivirus blocks that site! maybe useful to check this FerrariChat.com: 1986 328 GTS Mirror Switch ciao
Ferrari 328 mirror switch is not shared with any other European car: I do not know about trucks, USA cars, tractors, boats or airplanes. It's an out of stock item everywhere: if you find a good one (of course somewhere there are some NOS), buy it immediately, expecially if it's cheap. ciao
i made mine with the Ferrari base and used the BMW switch and grafted them together happy days Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think I might try this. As it is the BMW toggle doesn't fit on the 328 spindle. I take it you just bored out the toggle from the BMW switch? The BMW toggle still looks somewhat oversized IMHO.
i just cut out around the original switch base and cut up the bmw one glued it in and later fill with body filler and painted it in satin black Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the feed back. Yours was a slightly different problem than I have. I have simply lost the toggle. The rest of the switch is fine.
Hi Simon, This could be helpful to you: Ferrari 328 Original Mirror Swicth Case and Knob Controls | eBay (hope it's OK to put the link here) Thanks
Just to update this thread, I received the switch carcass (no electronics) from Andre (thanks again for the heads up). My mirror switch is now complete after loosing the toggle about 12 years ago. Here is also a comparison of the BMW switch and the Ferrari 328 switch. They are not remotely the same. (Whether the internals from the BMW switch can be used in the 328, I have no idea). The individual parts of the switch, toggle, left/right slider are also not interchangeable. There is a basic similarity in layout and size and that is it as far as I can see. In the picture the BMW switch is top, the Ferrari switch at the bottom. The toggle on the Ferrari switch is rotated only because it isn't attached to anything inside the switch carcass.
