A shameless plug for the newly formed Maserati Owners Club of Australia! Born out of Maserati owners and enthusiasts not having a solid marque platform, particularly with regards to the older models, this Australia wide club is now in full swing:

    Maserati Owner Club

Membership is open to owners and enthusiasts of all things Maserati. It's $120/year full membership for owners and $80/year for enthusiasts whom are not owners. (But you won't have voting rights being an associate member). It's easy to join, just click on the Membership link and PayPal does the rest. You might even get some nice goodies when you join. Whom would have thought?

So what does the club get up to?

Here's some pics from last Sunday 16/8.

The meeting venue was Middle Park in the morning and a rather large contingency of cars turned up. A morning breakfast/coffee started proceedings before JG introduced the club patron, Reg Hunt.

A local resident named John was keeping an eye on the cars across the road when he decided to upstage everyone and bring out his Messerschmitt. It was beautifully restored, and after chatting about the car, he kindly took us into his garage to show us his collection. What a nice man.

From there we visited three locations in the South East. The first was a private garage, I do not have permission to post the images, so you'll just have to attend the next meeting :) The next stop was a business named "Carwood" at 17B Elma Road, Cheltenham. Rob the proprietor showed us the (Lengthy) process involved in restoration and repair of all timbers used in Automotive applications. He also lays claim to owning a Jaguar Mk 10, once the private carriage of Sir William Lyons (See pics of that, along with the 101 year old press he still uses).

From there we visited Hayes Automotive Restoration at 2 Bibby Court Moorabbin. Max the proprietor is currently performing metalwork repairs on JQ's 4.7 Ghibli. It's coming along nicely. It was amusing to see what was left of some of the existing metal. That's David Z (The club event co-ordinator) holding what was the bottom of the doors. After checking out the Mustang shop next door, we walked around the corner to Fat Bob's Bar and Grill, where we ate healthily and spoke rubbish.

    An excellent day, thanks David!

This sounds like fun.....I can't think of anything that I'd rather do with an aging exotic than drive down to the beach and have a coffee.

    Hi,

Here's a few Albums which Dishan Marikar - Automotive Artist & Photographer
has put together of the last two meetings of the club.
Yesterdays meeting was notable for the superb early Esprit in a vivid orange colour which was about as seventies-tastic as you can get. Just check out that interior!!
Thanks to DZ for organising the event and enjoy pictures from the previous Winter run too, see below
