when I was into bikes, I started with a Ducati Monster 620, perfect little bike, fast enough, great sound, looked mean.
I upgraded to a Ducati 916, looked even better, went ever fast, sounded even better, but not comfortable enough to ride all day everyday.
So I sold both bikes and bought a brand spankin new Aprilia Tuono 1000R Factory. Beast of bike , 140 hp V Twin, Ohlins, Forged wheels, carbon fiber everywhere.

But in all honestly my little 620 was the best bike for the street, just fast enough, raw, loud, and you could actually open it up and hammer through the gears and not obliterate any speed limit in 2nd gear.

as much as I am tempted to upgrade, that lesson is holding me back. The 348/355 cars have the perfect amount of power for street use. They feel alive, a soul if you will. Sometimes the grass is not always greener

Should I post videos of my 355 Challenge running down and leaving an F430 at Laguna Seca? ;)

Yep. Right up until the day you need to replace a cc brake rotor. Or headers. Or a heat exchanger. Or a clutch.....

OMG do I love the 430. I don't miss the manual either. The sound? Really, the 355 is better? What drug are y'all on? The 430 is sick!

Handling, acceleration, no comparison. Look, it's s big price difference, but I lease and I do not miss engine outs, broken tops, broken emergency brakes, etc.

And a rear end styled like an Enzo? I don't even want a one tail light 458 or certainly a turbo 488.

If you can, do it. Btw, I loved my 355. But the 430 is spectacular.

If you are able to acquire a 6-speed F430, I would say this is worth contemplating.

I am fortunate to have both cars, and I can tell you the gated 6-speed 430 is a beast and offers an amazing shifting experience. The engine sound on the 430 is outrageously awesome. The 355 sound is marvelous but not an absolute animal like the 430 sound. The sound of the 430 is really addicting. The intake noise on acceleration is unlike any other car.

I would say they are just about equally fun. I tend to prefer the smaller size and the lower seating position in the 355, but the engine sound in the 430 and the smoothness of the shifter make up for the disadvantage of the car having its "refinements" that we don't want in a Ferrari. But the 430 is an animal, is more refined, and more reliable.

I don't think a 430 would be a step down at all. Just different. Variety is the spice of life - consider the change if you are looking to add to your experience. I imagine you've test driven the 430 extensively?

+1. I owned my 355 for 10 years, keeping it in tip top condition was costly, both in maintenance and repairs. Every Ferrari technician I spoke to had nothing but positive things to say about the F430 and the simple maintenance costs (yes clutch jobs are more costly, but less frequent than major services!) The few weaknesses are well known, and solutions are at the ready if needed. You already know to look at the 08 and 09 which have the latest production updates/changes, including to the F1 transmission. I really doubt F430 prices will depreciate much more before they level off, if they aren't already, due to the considerably higher prices of the new cars.

I sold my F355 spider at the bottom, in July of 2014...bought a 09 430 Scud earlier this year. While I still love the F355 (mine had a Capristo exhaust ;) ), the F430 has it in spades in overall performance, and the Scud is simply outstanding to another level again.

    I say do it.

I can send more pics via email I dont want to show the race setup on the motor it's totally different

I have nothing against the 430 at all. Like others just not my cup of tea, 458 for me soon as I get some garage space

BTW, the OP should really start a thread in the 430 section, to hear from folks who have already moved from an F355 to and F430, and hear their opinions, and whether they regret it or not.

    You need both.
I have been looking for a year now but was only looking at 430 scuderias. The problem is the longer i look at the 458 the more i like it versus the 430 body. I like the scuds interior better but now i would have to get the speciale. Maybe they will make enough the price wont be too bad in 5.

I'd like a 12 cylinder for my next F-car. Probably a 599 as I think they're the best value out there right now.

Highly doubt I'll sell the 355...unless it was to fund another 355.
